The food here was so good! I was in Montreal for just a week and went here twice! It was recommended by a local friend who loves it. I had dinner (carry out) and lunch (dine in). I had the lamb with green onion dumplings fried and the beef curry dumplings boiled. Both were extra tasty dipped in the chili oil. I wish I could have tried more of their food. This is a great place and I'd go here dangerously often if I lived nearby. Cash only (but they have an ATM at the entrance).
Really yummy. Good service. Clean neat. They're not exactly "soup" dumpling. More like juicy (only a little liquid inside) dumplings
Staff was super friendly. Menu has chef's recommendation symbols if you are unsure what to order. Tried a little bit of everything and definitely want to come back. Really good value. Boiled > Fried.
Place was very dirty and the cleaning cloth left a stench and watery surface. They could be better to accommodate people, we were 3 and they had a table for 2 and some other spare chairs in the other tables, however they never tried to put that chair and sit us. They didn't either ask the customers after us (two) to sit. Food is good though but again the place is very dirty.
Montréal is popular for dumplings! I suspect due to its geography, northern Chinese cuisine gained popularity in Chinatown. Mai Xiang Yuan is one spot. It resembles a hole-in-the-wall on street side, but its dumpling logo is can’t-miss.We tried a plate of 15 steamed dumplings (lamb & cilantro), along with a platter of 15 fried dumplings (pork, cilantro & shrimp). The plump steamed dumplings were flavourful with lamb juice, even before dipping in vinegar/soy sauce. The thick handmade wrappers were just ideal for such traditional dumplings. The fried dumplings were served with a crispy bottom layer, and included decent amount of pork & shrimp. However, the latter was a bit greasy so we left stuffed.Dumpling portions were quite large at reasonable prices. Note the store is cash only, but provides an ATM at the entrance if you’re short on cash. Staff were sure to inform guests this was a no-cash / no-service establishment!
We went in at 9pm on a Friday, got seated immediately. We chose this place as it was listed one of the top places to get dumplings in Chinatown on MTL blog, although our experience here did not match our expectations. The place is cash only, there’s an ATM machine right outside in case you don’t carry cash.We got the pork, shrimp and chives fried dumplings, the dumplings were a little burnt and they were bland as well. The server was pleasant, but the service took a long time.
Great place to take dumplings. We asked for pork with peanut butter and classic dumplings, well served. Take cash with you as this place doesn't accept credit card, however an ATM is right at the entrance
Came here for the XLB, did not disappoint. $9.49CAD for 10 pieces. This place is cash only. The service was a little slow, but I think they were training new staff.
Ordered a variety of dumplings through doordash after a long day of walking through the city. You will not be disappointed. Ordered the pork, spicy beef and soup dumplings. All were excellent.
Homemade dumpling, good quality. Typical China town vibe, not super new and clean. Food serve fast. The dough slightly thicker than some of other place. The steam one is very juicy. The boiled one surprisingly good, too. This place is CASH only so please prepare.
