A really cute restaurant in Old Montreal. We were wondering along looking for some good options when we came across Maestro SVP. The vibe was good so we gave it a shot. The Salmon Tartare was terrific. Portion was a little small. The Louisiana Seafood was fantastic. The Scallops were very good, but very small.
We’ve visited some great restaurants for seafood and this restaurant did not disappoint. We had raw oysters to start and an amazing cooked seafood platter that we shared. We will definitely be back.
Great experience. Literally the best oysters we’ve ever had. Highly recommend many of the appetizers.
The food was amazing but the service was terrible. We made reservations and were greeted right away. A friendly woman came to our table and answered our questions about the menu and she was kind, but she disappeared and the other server came up. He was dismissive and rude the entire time. He would look at us but not come to our table. The bus boy was bringing us refills and taking our orders. He was really working whereas this server was totally avoiding us, in an obvious manner. He only asked us how our meal was when he dropped off the bill. The bus boy saved our experience and the seafood was incredible but the service really needs to be adjusted. This was the first time in our life that we didn't tip the server- we made sure to tip the bus boy who was the real star of the restaurant and deserves a huge promotion.I wasn't going to leave this review on opentable, but the restaurant cancelled my reservation after the fact, and I'm assuming to save face for our bad experience, which really made a sour experience worse.☆edit to clarify☆ we had 2 breads, which we paid for, which is not a lot based on them being very small and us being a party of two.Perhaps instead of being defensive in your response to your customers, you could look at the 2 negative Google reviews in less than 24 hours as a coachable moment for your staff and take accountability. It's not a good look to insult patrons who had legitimately bad experience.I'm pregnant and I was drinking San Pelligrino and our table had 3 bottles. It's reflected on the bill. My husband had diet coke and we will ask for as many refills as we want. If it's not an issue at other restaurants, why is it an issue here? This response really shows your true colours. Lying about what we ordered is just brutal.I am in the service industry and I know for a fact that waiters do NOT pay taxes on their bills, they may tip out the kitchen but that's not a tax. It's also not required to tip so maybe Enrique (we didn't know his name) can use this as a learning experience for rude service. I can tip whoever I want and we pointed out to the nice lady that we were intentionally tipping him and not the server to avoid accusations, which again is not reflected in this poor response.
I would strongly recommend this oyster restaurant. The food is good.We have a plate of combination with 5 oysters, and another dozen happy hour oysters. I would suggest you go with happy hour oysters, cuz they are less expensive and medium sized, and I can not tell the difference of different oysters. The crab cake is great, my girl friend likes it very much. The waiter is super nice and patient, though he is really busy.I do recommend this restaurant.
The service was good, great cocktails. We had mussels with blue cheese which was a big leap for me mixing such a strong cheese with seafood - they were wonderful Nice relaxed vibe.
We had an amazing meal. Would definitely return. We had 6 oysters & Caesar Salad both were great. But the Grilled shrimp with ginger maple syrup & goat cheese was a wonderful surprise. Salmon tartar with wontons was perfect and the Tagliatelle with Shrimp was cooked to perfection!! Staff was great too, Thanks Maestro SVP for a lovely evening!!
Looking for some amazing seafood this is the place to go. Order the Quebec oysters they were mouthwatering. Service was great and ambiance was perfect. Can’t wait to go back!!!
We had a variety of oysters. I highly recommend the ones from BC, very tasty. Followed by well cooked mussels but they were drowned in tasteless liquid. 3 stars bc mussels did not come with fries which is usually how they are served. We ordered side fries which were homemade and savoury. 3 stars bc I had to ask for wet wipes for our hands. And our waitress was not the most amicable as other patrons pointed out.
We went for cold seafood platter: the oysters and lobster were fresh, beautifully presented and the owner herself was present the whole night taking care of all clients with excellent service. Will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. The fancy cocktails and delicious desserts made a great meal even more enjoyable!
