Good, but not great ; doesn't live up to the hype. They said that's how they cook it, but I never had a calamari that rubbery; not for me (the flavor was good tho). The ramen were good, but not great, missing a little something. Some parts of the restaurant are way prettier than the one we were in (the one right next to the door, on the left, which is very dark and bland). To finish on a good point, the service was good and I loved my drink! If there's a long waiting time, I would go somewhere else.
Came here for Japanese tapas. The salmon tartar is to die for. Will be coming back for the next special occasion :-)
Restrictions are lifted (hopefully for good!) and it’s time for another review =)Ichigo Ichie Izakaya doesn’t show much from outside, but trust me, inside… it’s a discovery!!!The decor is exquisite, the uniforms are beautiful and the design of the place, lock, stock and barrel, is magnificent.I truly loved my experience here, kind of felt like I was in Tokyo! The food was fabulous. I had Ramen ? and in comparison to one of the places I usually go (Kinton Ramen), their Ramen is something else. Give it a shot and you won’t regret it.Just be careful how much you eat as you can quickly get to the burst point here ?
with limitation of 50% of capacity, instead of distancing the tables, they just closed up half of the restaurant which defies the purpose of precautions of distanciation. So the 50% that was still open was packed with customers. As for food, after the line up to get in, we are informed that they won't be serving the Izakaya menu but only ramen. It wasn't properly prepared and it shouldn't be served. I was highly disappointed by the food and the whole experience.
Great place for ramen and casual Japanese fare. The ramen is highly customizable (saltiness, broth, meat and other ingredients). They also offer four different condiments to customize your ramen experience even more. There’s a ramen space (Yokato Yokabai) that’s smaller and cosier and a bigger main restaurant that serves alcohol. Nice atmosphere to the place. Good for a quick lunch or a longer dinner.
Had an amazing time here with a group of 5. Service is flexible and accommodating, we ordered about 22ish dishes in three services and kitchen delivered surprisingly quickly. Bar was a little slow though.Top recommendations goes to the Cod, grilled squid was a little TOO seasoned and was salty as hell. Everything else was great!
Almost everything was great, avoid the Teriyaki chicken with your ramen. Friendly staff, quick, and professional.
The food was absolutely delicious! The ramen was so tasty, and so were the appetizers of fried chicken. However, giving 3 stars for the service. They did not check our vaccine passports at the front. They also don’t seem to care too much about covid because they pass condiments from table to table without being wiped down and sanitized. We waited 30 minutes for our check at the end.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Ramen? In Montreal?”I had the same thought as well. But after numerous recommendations, I had to check it out for myself - and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The ramen broth was something I have not tasted before. Savoury, and rich, yet not too fatty and very well balanced. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the chashu was not fatty but still very juicey. The marinated eggs were what surprised me the most, though. It was much sweeter than other ramen eggs I had before but it complemented the broth and the noodle perfectly. I recommend that you get the whole egg because I regret not doing so myself. We also ordered the grilled black cod which was a bit expensive in my opinion but the fish was superb. It was very oily and fatty but I think the flavour of the skin really did it for me.Finally the chashu don was up. It was very tasty and filling as well. But after the high of the ramen and the black cod, the don paled in comparison. If you’re really itching for a bowl of rice, it’ll do the job - but the restaurant is known for their ramens, not the don.We also had couple cocktails to go with our meals. I’m not a liquor expert so I really can’t speak much on them but my favourite of the night was the shiso sour. It gave me the buzz that I needed with the perfect balance of sourness and the minty flavour of the shiso leaf. Mr. Miyagi was also quite interesting with a strong flavour of ginger and a punch of alcohol to boot.Overall, I came away quite impressed with the quality of food and the overall atmosphere. Next time I go, I will definitely try the izakaya style food as well but I strongly recommend that you start out with the ramens because I’m wanting more as I write this review!
Had a nice dinner here with my family! Staff are very accommodating and quick to attend to our needs. Food was superb! I would have wanted for them to have some high chairs though for my little one. But overall it's good!
