I adore this hotel. I always have and I always will. I just returned from a four day trip. The staff is exceptional - the doormen are always kind. The staff behind the desk - Simon, Luca are just helpful and wonderful. They never seem to get frazzled by any request. The staff in the restaurant - Christopher and the other gentlemen and ladies are also wonderful. The rooms are spacious compared to others in the Old Town area. Thank you Hotel Nelligan for the smile you always give me after my stay. And the smile that I have whenever I step foot in your doors.

I oscillated between 2 and 3 stars for this review, but ultimately I thought 3 was fairer. For starters, the hotel just isn’t that great. I expect a boutique hotel, which is what this hotel markets itself as, to have interesting design choices. But this place doesn’t have that. The art on the wall was… bland bordering on ugly. The furniture was unremarkable. Where was the razzle-dazzle justifying the price?Furthermore, our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, despite a guaranteed 3 pm check-in. As consolation, they upgraded us to a superior suite. Sounds great, right? But the suite was only so-so. What must an even lesser room be like?In partnership with Tourism Montreal, the hotel also gives out $75 pre-paid visas to be used at a few of its sister properties. We used it at the attached steakhouse, Mechant Boeuf. But the card is declined at the end of the meal. After much fussing between the waiter, the maitre-d’ and finally the hotel manager, we agree to pay the full amount and have the $75 knocked off the hotel costs. When we go to check-out, there is no record of the $75 promise.Listen, it’s easy to call people “sir” and apologize profusely. But good management is more than these surface-level things. It’s not making people wait for their room, for even a second. It’s not then making them wait around at the end of their meal while a committee of managers agonizes over $75. It’s certainly not repeating the same thing the following day.I’m not so fickle as to say it ruined the trip, but it definitely coloured how I’ll remember it. We were there for just one night. Three strikes in less than two days is just bad management. If you want to save yourself a headache, and literally a couple of hours, choose another spot.

Just beautiful. Lovely views and delicious drinks. Bar staff who are so attentive and friendly! Highly recommend!

On March 18th 2022, my fiancé surprised me at Hotel Nelligan to propose and it was the perfect place to say YES! First of all the service was perfect, special thanks to Carlos from the valet service for your GREAT service! All of the staff looked so excited for our new engagement. We recieved a champagne bottle in our room, they accommodated us with changing the dinner reservation and checkout time, everything was so easy. Our room was beautiful and big with nice brick walls and a jacuzzi. The room is really clean and the bed was really comfortable.Breakfast the next morning was SO good and the decor is so nice.I definitely recommend staying at Hotel Nelligan.Thank you again ❤️

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Nelligan. Loved the exposed brick walls, European style windows and warm ambiance of the Petite Suite. All the furniture and fixtures looked and felt high quality and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The location was also within walking distance to major attractions (St. Catherine's street, Old Port, Chinatown, the Basilica) and many shops and restaurants right at your doorstep. Our room faced an alley, so we would definitely request for a street facing room if we ever go again!

Allow me a brief story. After 5 years of sad events among family and friends, I needed to "rescue" Christmas and make it once again a happy event. I'd walked by the Nelligan before and had read the reviews so I booked a 5 night stay. I'm a bit of a hotel addict and have stayed in hundreds. In amenities, service and every other typical measure of hotel quality, the Nelligan would be in the top 10. But something occurred that made it my favorite. I wanted a Christmas tree and asked the hotel if that could be arranged, adding that I would pay all costs. Simon, Romy and other staff took up my project and ran with it, making it their own. I arrived to find a tiny perfect tree - with lights - set up in my upgraded suite - at no charge. The staff even fashioned a stand for it. Throughout my stay, in many other ways, they went far beyond my expectations, doing everything possible to ensure a wonderful solo Christmas experience. I have stayed in everything from 2 star inns to 5 star Grand Hotels all over Europe and North America. This was the first to touch my heart and I saw evidence that I was not the only guest being treated in this fashion. My thanks, bravo, and I will see you next Christmas.

This is a stunning Hotel in Old MTL. As said in previous reviews close to lots of places and the brick walls are so comfy and welcoming, the room was spacey and the bed felt like heaven it was so comfortable and amazing to cuddle with your lady friend. If you look at the small stuff that was bad, you definitely need too stay home, this is a hotel, it's a public place where there is a lot of traffic.I loved this hotel and I am planning to go back

Let me tell you one thing that online travel agents do not want you to know about. When reserving stays use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ They've got the best deals on hotels! So much better than using expedia, tripadvisor, agoda. No doubt about that!!!I absolutely love this hotel. The large room had exposed brick and wrought iron by the windows, which you can open, beautiful fireplace. The bed was so comfortable and the huge bathtub with jets was lovely. Fantastic service! Location was great. I hope you return one day.

We had high hopes. Nice location, welcoming environment, attentive servers. Left highly disappointed. Asked for small glasses if wine for all, and charged large. Advised of severe allergy (anaphylaxis) at table and the individual was served meal with visible almonds - thid could have been disastrous! Server was cautious but this was a huge kitchen error. Individual was provided a drink for the error but then charged for the meal we had removed. Another person at our table received a salad with questionable rubbery chicken, which they returned. Ordered a burger filled with onion soup pkg type onions. Two of us that shared the apples were satisfied but portions are really small. It was an unfortunate, expensive evening. A long time since we have had such a poor experience - although our new server was a nice fellow.
