Last summer when we walked pass this restaurant, it and all nearby restaurants were fully booked with half capacity (government covid control policy). My neighbor told me it was a good restaurant. Last night we had supper there with a visiting guest. The originality the chef put in the dishes with details, we enjoyed the food as much as the service. We had the best duct confit compared to other two French cuisine restaurants in the Old Montreal. Price is reasonable, not raised after the pandemic when the restaurants suffered greatly. Desserts are nice too. I like the complexity.
This is a must go restaurant in Montréal always. Great daily specials and wine collection!
Great food and great vibe in this place. The hanger steak was a very tasty, and came with a generous side of fries. Appetizers were great as well, and the service was also top notch! Would definitely return!
I loved the fact that it's a slow food mentality. The meals are meant to eat slowly and no one comes to kick you out while u never had to wait too long for my next service. We overall stayed for 4h almost. My bison steak with butternut puree was delicious. The portions are generous and well balanced. The desserts were okay, with a preference for the crème brûlée.There is a large selection of wines that are very affordable.
Starting from good to the downright bad: the environment is pretty nice, decent for an after-work dinner. The food is a little bland, the dishes could use a little more seasoning. Then the worst thing of all: the service. There seem to be two types of waiters, some senior head waiter, and everyone else. I got assigned the senior waiter, so lucky me, right? That guy was awful; he constantly forgot or ignored our table, and he even joked about forgetting to another waiter. Everyone else worked diligently; I had to flag those waiters to get menus and dishes cleared. I prefer not to gamble on service when I go to a restaurant, so I'd recommend any other place nearby.
Amazing dinner! This restaurant NEVER fails! It is so amazing! The attention from the moment you step into the restaurant is just remarkable...you feel such at ease. Entrees, main and desserts are all amazing! One of our favourite restaurant in Montreal without a doubt!
Holder is an absolutely fantastic spot for an excellent meal. Typically french food, high quality, creative menu. The food in exquisite. The staff are wonderful. Good wine list. Beef cheeks bourginion is delectable!
Came for dinner here on a Wednesday night, the service was wonderful and everyone was super attentive and friendly. The food was amazing! I haven't had tartare in so long and it was better than I remembered!! The lobster ravioli was sooooo delicious and flavorful! That sauce was so creamy! And the braised beef was soft and tender. At the end we barely had space for dessert but I went for it anyway! The truffle was amazing! Dark chocolate truffles, so good!!! I'd definitely come back again in the future
Delicious French food!! Can't express how great this place is. The vibe of the whole place, the staff, and the food is a great combo. So glad we chose this place as our first meal in Montreal :)
We came to Holder for lunch a couple months ago. Had a great time. Good vibe and food was great. Had the gazpacho to start and lamb as main course. We also got a bottle of Heitz Cellar which was amazing and was at a really reasonable price. Will be coming back.
