I've been a great fan of this place for almost 20 years, but after almost 2 years without going there I have to say a was somewhat disappointed. The ambiance is still great and the service was fine. My disappointment was with the food, more precisely the good old Portuguese chicken, which I found quite overcooked, dry and tasteless (the picante sauce was barely noticeable). I'll still come back, but I hope next time the food will have the great taste that made me be a loyal customer for all those years.

After a 2 year Covid hiatus went back.The pits!!!The $ 40.50 seafood casserole was not what it used to be.lots of mussles, 5 clams and 4 shrimp on a soggy rice for that price?My wife's Sea Bass was hopelessly "overgrilled".Not what the place used to be.Too bad!
Best restaurant to enjoy squid. Excellent service.
You can't go wrong for true Portuguese grilled meat or seafood. It's refreshing to see such culinary establishments still thriving and offering the same quality cuisine. It's about the service and the food quality, not the frills.
A while ago, I ordered mussels in a wonderful tomato sauce. My husband had the chicken. In the middle of the night I became violently sick with food poisoning from a mussel no doubt. First chance I had, I phoned the restaurant to inform them of the danger of not inspecting the mussels properly. They refused to admit that it was caused by their lack of attention and never offered an apology nor a return to the restaurant. Needless to say, I never went back since that dangerous incident.
The place is cozy, warm atmosphere, yet the food wasn't good: Sardine fish un-gutted which was almost traumatic to eat , Portuguese chicken which was too dry to have a flavor.
Nourriture très bonne mais très mauvais service du personnel. Les gens dans la premiere piece du resto gardaient leur manteau d’hiver tellement il faisait froid. Le serveur était pourri, aucune courtoisie. On semblait le déranger pour tout. Les clients entraient dans le resto sans être acceuillis et pouvaient attendre plusieurs minutes avant d’être acceuillis et cela était très malaisant. Manque d’eau. Nourriture très bonne mais quand je vais dans un resto qui se dit une institution je m’attends à un bon service et une experience globale agréable. Ce ne fût pas le cas. Plus jamais je reviendrai chez Doval. Décevant.
