This restaurant is in a residential area of Montreal, on a tree-lined street. It was around the back of an old church that is used as an event venue, and across the street from a school. As people have noted, it IS hard to find, so just give yourself a little bit of buffer time. There is a little garden on the property for their own fresh herbs. We got the wine pairings, and each came with a delightful story. The wine was very unique and different, and all were wonderful. The service was also spectacular, charming, easygoing and just the right balance between casual and upscale. They were also more than happy to accomodate dietary restrictions and made modifications for me based on no-seafood. A highlight of our trip to Montreal!
The most amazing experience! I went for my birthday and it didn’t disappoint. Some of the best, freshest food I’ve tasted. Cocktails were also amazing and the wine pairing blew my mind.
Thoughtful, fresh, and passionate cooking here at Candide. The flavors of the season shine in every dish. Every vegetable unlocks its secret magic. The asparagus with sorrel and lovage butter had a clear smoke tone to the grilled asparagus, and the unctuous butter was cut perfectly by the tangy sour bite of sorrel. The gem lettuce salad featured brown butter croutons that were actually the right size to eat with lettuce. The peas! Sweet and crispy peas swimming in rich lobster sauce, topped with broccoli, again perfectly grilled. Both the pork and halibut dishes were well balanced with sauteed, glazed, and raw elements, and both dessert options featured special and harmonious flavors. If we lived in Montreal, we'd try to come every month to try every menu.
Truly excellent dining experience all around - great service, food was remarkable, and the drink/wine pairings were very thoughtful. Would recommend to anyone wanting a unique, delicious dining experience. We sat at the high tops and was fun to see the food prepared and interact with the staff. Bartender Sam was phenomenal!
Highly recommend, me and my wife did the tasting menu, trying 1 of each for the main course and desserts, and added the grilled asparagus. They made a moctail for my wife, and I did a half pour option for the wine pairings. All of the wines were good and different than I would have normally ordered, and paired well with the meal. They explained a bit of the back story for each wine and winery it came from which was cool. Decor and service were both great as well. Would highly recommend!
Had a dinner for 7 people to celebrate my daughter's graduation. It was fabulous. Every dish had unique flavors. We also enjoyed the wine pairings, which came with a detailed description of each wine and why it was selected. Note that you can get a half pour on the pairing, which was perfect for me. Service was excellent. I received several compliments on the choice of restaurant.
Hard to find but worth it. Prix fixe. Wine pairing. Some of the most creative and flavorful food we have eaten anywhere. Chef is present at your table. Seats 40. Expect to spend 300$.
I always love trying set meals and seeing what surprises a restaurant has in store, and seeing that this restaurant has monthly menu changes was exciting to me. The asparagus was fresh and tasty, with a great crunch with each bite. The snow crab appetizer was delicious, and the salad appetizer was more of a small bite than a full salad, but still good. I had the rabbit and was quite pleased with the dish, and my friends had the lobster which was delicious too. The meal ended with either a cherry/beeswax cake or a savoury cheese with corn cracker and apple sunflower seed salad, and I preferred the savoury cheese out of the two. Overall, a lovely experience, and I would be excited to try another new menu should I ever come back to Montreal in the future!
Some of the best food I had in a long time! I recommend sitting at the bar for a direct view of the kitchen. Also service was great, all was great!
Juste sublime ! Goûteux et savoureux, cuisine qui utilise les produits locaux, équipes souriantes et qui aiment ce qu’ils font. Accord mets/vin vraiment super, belle découverte. Je recommande à tous !
