Amazing food. We had oysters, burrata, paella, and halibut. Our waiters (Phillippe our main) we're excellent, engaging, and knowledgeable.
Oysters and Paella
Food was good and well done. Nothing crazy for the price though. Paella was nice but not your typical paella taste, more tomato and sour. For 45$ I would expect a bit more.
Nice place, very good service, cosy and beautiful interior. The food is pretty good, but all mentioned above not adequate to the prices in menu and wine list!
Amazing ambiance. Situated in old Montreal. European style feeling. We had an amazing dinner. Service was exceptional. Very cozy. Food was well balanced. Well presented.
We went here for our ten year anniversary based on the reviews. Can't believe how good the paella was-- and I've tried it a lot of places. The short rib was also excellent. We thought it was the perfect restaurant ambience wise but the music didn't fit. Could have been a very romantic place without the Billy Ocean and Bananarama. Service was outstanding. Friendliest waiter ever, super attentive.
I recommend the king salmon if you’re health conscious. The oysters are a must. They have a full bar with anything you ever want and desire. If you aren’t worry about health, I recommend the steaks with truffles. It’s 20 oz full of flavour and of course fat, accompanied with potatoes but you can also ask them for some very tasty asparagus. The music is R&B classic, like Luther Vandross style. May he Rest In Peace! They also a devilish paella in the traditional Spanish style. The crowd is young and not so young professionals and perhaps tourist on the weekends. I stay away from tourists on the weekends. There are too many in my streets in the old port.
The Beef tartare with Conte cheese was unbelievable… the beef Wellington was for two people and I was alone on this one occasion so I will have to return next time in Montréal! Will bring my wife to this super romantic, great vibe, great food restaurant! Intimate. The goat cheese ice cream with olive oil daring… but so well prepared and unusual! Walking distance from Nelligan. Can’t wait to go back!
Had a fantastic dinner experience at BARROCO. As others have noted, you’re best to make reservations. I requested to be put on the waitlist and was notified right away to confirm a reservation. So even if you don’t see a reservation available, it’s worth a shot to sign up for the waitlist.FOOD: the food was delicious! We started with oysters, burrata and the beer tartare. Everything was fantastic. For dinner, we ordered the ribeye and pasta. Ribeye was cooked beautifully and had great flavor.DRINKS: cocktails were a masterpiece. I suggest ordering the conquistador. All drinks we had were smooth and balanced. Wine service was excellent as well.SERVICE: From the moment we arrived to when we left, the staff took priority in providing a welcoming and friendly environment. We had multiple staff come by to check on us, refill waters and change out our dining plates and utensils.I highly recommend this place for dinner! A memorable experience and can’t wait to return.
I called in late yesterday, on a Friday evening looking for a spot for the same night but they were full. I received a phone call a couple of minutes later saying there was an availability, if I didn’t mind the bar - how awesome of them to actually check and call me back! The bar is actually the best spot in the house here because you get to watch their skillful bartenders make super fun drinks. Our bartender/ waiter was awesome and recommended exactly the right drinks for what we were both feeling. We each had three cocktails and all of them were masterfully made, creative, and delicious. We shared a dozen oysters and they were fresh and came quickly. We also shared the burrata of the night and it was amazing, the charred bread was nice! As a main, we each got the salmon and it was perfectly and beautifully cooked. Everything from the ambiance, music (and volume), service, and food was impeccable. I already want to go back and try everything on their menu. Congratulations to the team at Barroco. Really exceptional, highly recommend.
