We’re from Hawaii and really lowkey casual diners and this place was incredible. Everything from the food to the service was top notch. Beautiful views! If you’re looking for a quality steak and seafood restaurant, this is the place. Our waiter gave excellent recommendations for wine and all questions we had. Highly recommend this place! We will be definitely be back!
Listen, everything about Sterling was top notch! Location, the historic house, the incredible beef on display as you walk in to the incredibly delicious food. Their timing of service was impeccable. Brought you bread and water within seconds of sitting down and the timing of serving the appetizers was just right and the space between appetizers and the main meal could not have been better times as well. The staff was pleasant and jovial but not overdone or artificial. Very authentic in other words.
Cowboy beef taste very very good.I feel Scallop too expensive and small portions.Beef tata appetizer and soup is average.
Was told for years that this was the place for high quality food in the area, with a price to match. We went for my birthday and it was quite the mixed bag.The food itself was up and down. Appetizers were absolutely phenomenal, you have to try the escargot and spinach layered pastry. The steak was very average, with probably one of the worst peppercorn sauce I've ever had.The catch was the cake. On its own, delicious. Not homemade-level delicious, but delicious for a restaurant cake. However, each and every person who had the cake (about half the table) found themselves sick the day after. Me? I had extra cake from someone who didn't eat his for the day after and, shocker, I was sick both days after I ate it.The food isn't worth 2 stars, but getting sick after eating a restaurant is not good at all. The extra star is for the great appetizers and the bar having almost anything we were asking for.
Nice décor, but mostly downhill afterwards. Our group of four (reservation made) was seated at a table for three, so they had to find another chair and place setting - not a great start. If you like wine, there's a good choice, otherwise, sorry. My wife ordered a sangria, which showed up after the meal had been served; the rest of us stuck with water, which we had to keep asking for refills. The food was just "okay", and not served to our liking. Two of four meals were okay, but two were over cooked. The service was poor, with our server seemingly more interested in other things going on. Disclosure: I usually tip well, if the service is decent, but limited it to 10% on this (our first, and last) visit. Over all, the food was over priced, and not worth the expense. We didn't bother sticking around for dessert.
This place is the definition of "the best steak house" in the capital region. Amazing views, exceptional service, and some of the best food I have I had in the city. The 20oz cowboy steak melts in your mouth and was exploding with flavors. Stop going to trash steakhouses and go to Sterling to discover what a steak should taste like.
Amazing service and excellent food! Our server was Stefan and he made our night! The anniversary touch was extremely thoughtful! We will be back for sure!
The service is professional. They take their steak very seriously. 6 out of 6 meals received compliments. A lovely evening.
Beautiful view of the Gatineau river sitting on the nice patio. Food is amazing, had a delicious New York steak with all the different sauces on the side , for appetizer braised Scallop and a spectacular Burrata salad! Service was really good. A definite thumps up, you won't be disappointed.
It’s a great old-school (but updated) steakhouse that does serve really good steaks. Honestly, I prefer eating steak at nice restaurants that also have other specialties over full-on steakhouses like this. I think it is the best of this genre in Ottawa/Gatineau.Staff are experienced as you’d imagine and it is a nice setting next to the river.
