Was here 3 years ago and the lobster roll was full of chunks of fresh lobster meat. This time it was or tasted like frozen lobster, hardly any chunks, mostly the mechanically removed lobster flakes, a fraction of the amount before. Even the rolls are different. They used to be buttered but not sure if they are now. The fries are still quite good but the lobster roll was very disappointing compared to before.
I saw this place on the TV show "you gotta eat here" and made sure it was a stop on our travels. It didn't disappoint! The lobster rolls and lobster poutine was amazing! Well worth the $! The ladies behind the counter were pleasant and made you feel right at home. Would definitely come back!
This floating gem is a must stop. The food is fresh. Ingredients are top notch. The sisters whom passionately embrace this seasonal “chip shack” love what they do, and pleasing your appetite is a huge target. There portions are good. If you go at a busy time The wait for the food is faster than it feels, so worth it. I have enjoyed the fries, deep fried cheese curds, lobster roll most recently. I alway make a point to stop by when on pei. Enjoy a drink at the tiki hut while you wait, it’s just a few stops down the floating dock. Tell Carren Rhonda Lee (Medium) says hi!
We saw this YouTube video that this is the best lobster roll in town. Never having a lobster roll before, l gad no expectations. Having another lobster roll after at a different place, l can now compare. The good: The lobster is pretty decent, and the mash tasted good. French fries are crispy and good also. Good ambiance. Right next to the water. The bad: Hard to find a place to sit. The lobster mix was more ON the bun than IN the bun. Bun was good but strangely enough was greasy. The gravy was not good. You can find pieces of shells in the lobster roll (which is sort of normal and dhows it is handmade). It is a good lobster roll but there is better out there. It is more for experience and a good time than the food itself.
Portion sizes were large, plenty of food, and the prices were not too bad. There was a problem paying for the food, and the woman working wasn't very helpful and seemed a bit distracted. The food came within 15 minutes and was fresh and hot when it arrived. The fries were definitely made to order and were delicious! As was the fish, hot dog, and apple fries. There was lots of seating around the shack, and plenty of other options around If someone in your party is picky.
We shared a meal here over the weekend. The food was fast, hot, and sensibly priced with the chili dog and fries at $9. These were some of the best fries I have had in ages with very tasty gluten free apple fries as a dessert! My son cannot wait to go back
We were really looking forward to this after a long drive from Fredericton. Ordered 80$ of food for 5 people. No credit only debit or cash because apparently "small businesses prefer not to take credit". 1 lobster roll (19$) 1 lobster poutine (24$) 1 gluten free fish and chips (12$) and 3 hot dogs and fries (18$) and a beach chair lager (7$). The lobster roll and lobster poutine was all filler no lobster not sure what was in it but didn't taste like lobster (though there were some small pieces of lobster scattered through to legitimize that it was indeed a "lobster roll"). The lobster poutine was way too salty and cold to melt the cheese curds. The hot dogs were for the kids and were what you would expect from a boiled hot dog on a fresh bun. The fish in the glutten free fish and chips was the best thing we ordered. The French fries on their own were good but nothing to come back for. The owner, lady with black hair and large hoop earrings and tattoos (?) who was working there was in a really bad mood shouting at people to pick up their food. Overall sad to say a very disappointing experience.
I really wanted to like this place. Very personable staff and a small business. I probably just ordered the wrong menu item, unfortunately. I ordered a hot dog and fries. The hot dog was not very good and I didn’t even finish it. The fries were good. The other huge disappointment was the “communal condiments area”. It was a mess and I don’t know how fresh the items were.
Walked by the pier and saw this little shop. Thought we’d give it a try. We paid $21 for a lobster roll, but it was 75% chips 25% lobster roll. The chips was really good, but the lobster roll was average. I personally didn’t like the icy cold lobster on my hot bun. Biting into ice isn’t pleasant.
I drove 1200 km to eat their lobster poutine. It’s amazing! It is full of flavour and just inhaled it until I couldn’t eat anymore. It’s a large portion, enough for two. The only downside for me is it’s very salty (I’m not a fan is salt) it’s a personal downside, please do try it you will not regret it.
