This is a great place to stop for lunch, dinner, or just for a drink at the bar or on the deck. Service, food, drink choices all great. Lobster roll, mussels, beer, wine all excellent, as is the hospitality. If I lived here, this would be my local pub.
Oysters were excellent. The iced oysters were my favourite. The lobster roll and smoked salmon were also great. Service was decent. Everything was reasonably priced.
The food tasted good and the servings were quite large - especially the chowder and tacos! Fries were crispy ans not overly fried. Our servers were very friendly too. Try to get a reservation if possible. Our party of five was turned away one evening, so we returned the next night and it was about a 30 minute wait for a table without a reservation. Note to the host if you are willing to sit outside. We assumed she knew because we walked in without a reservation and asked for a table, but she seated a party before us on the patio even though we had been waiting for 30 minutes. She promptly got us a table after we explicitly told her we were fine with a table on the patio.
Great place. Awesome outdoor bar to wait for a res. Server (Will) was fantastic and made sure our needs were met! Highly recommend!
My wife and I recently visited Charlottetown and had the pleasure of dining at the Merchantman on two occasions. We didn't have reservations, so we sat at the bar both times. On our first visit, we each had a cup of clam chowder and split an order of fish and chips. Their cup is more like a bowl. The meal was delicious. On our second visit, we had the crab cakes and clam chowder again. Of course, we sampled some of their craft beer on both occasions. The service people were both friendly and efficient. Steve, at the bar, was an excellent bar tender. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Will definitely return when we visit Charlottetown again.
I rated 4 out of 5, the only thing I would change is my salmon was under smoked and raw (just not what I was expecting) The experience was excellent, the drinks were perfect (best caesar I've ever had) and the service was so friendly.
We were told it was a 45 minute wait. At 45 minutes I just went in to inquire and they had my incorrect phone number. So who knows if they gave my table away. The hostess wrote it down wrong. We then proceeded to wait another 30 minutes which is a really long wait for perhaps their error. Finally seated and our waitress was very good and you can’t deny that they food was delicious.
Our hotel was right across the street so location was great for us. Restaurant is in a restored building so-atmosphere very nice. Waiter was very friendly. Food was excellent and I rarely rate that high. We had shrimp tacos and open faced steak sandwich. Highly recommend.
The lobster roll was fresh, and the house salad and fries were great. Excellent service by young friendly staff. You can tell this is one of the restaurants locals come to celebrate birthdays etc. Nice atmosphere. Mid to high price range.
The staff were extremely friendly and professional. The food was exceptional. Oysters on 1/2 shell were amazing and three different mignonettes were provided
