Amazing first time experience at the Cook's Shop! Beautiful intimate interior atmosphere. Pleasant service. Excellent variety on the menu. Pasta is made fresh in house and is absolutely to die for. Plating of desserts is masterful. I had the carprese salad, PEI mussels in white wine sauce, Angus beef stroganoff and tiramisu. The owner, Spencer, even visited our table to greet us and check in on how everything was. Truly a memorable experience - we'll be back again!
Absolutely the best Italian food around.Great restaurant, atmosphere, amazing garlic bread for starters.Meat was tender, mashed potatoes were also great.Very friendly staff and owner came by around to make sure everything is great and handled empty plates, you don’t see that very often. Will definitely visit again.
Last night my husband and I celebrated our anniversary and our daughter convinced us to try someplace new. Hands down best restaurant in Windsor. Everything from the appetizers to dessert was fabulous. The steak was out of this world. Never tasted better cannolis! We felt like we were back in Italy. The service, food and ambiance were top notch! Highly recommend!!!
The food is absolutely amazing! The owner does a very good job of making sure you have a great experience. The rest of the staff are very friendly and everyone is incredibly helpful if ever you needed help making a decision on your meal. The owner suggested the chimichurri on the bread (which was great) and mentioned that all the pasta is made in house. The beef in the beef stroganoff was very tender and delicious. It was a great experience and we will definitely be visiting again!
My husband made reservations for my birthday at the Cook Shop Saturday April 9th, 2022. I had not been to this restaurant in a long time. I would say the main course were OK, nothing too special but OK. I would not have said anything about the food but there were a few things that I felt were unacceptable. The appetizer was a rolled beef and port with sauce and cheese, it was really good. The salad was fresh and crisp and cold, the dressing amazing. We had a bottle of wine of which our waitress promptly poured my husband's first then mine and although came back to fill my husband's did not fill mine. So although she wasn't too bad, I would step it up a bit on the lack of attention to the women sitting at the table. It maybe old fashion but it still counts when I'm dining out, which we do a lot of, I am also the one who makes the decision on the amount of tip, I didn't hold back this time, but not that I plan on it, but if I came back and my waitress did this again, I won't leave even 15%, and I'm really good tipper. Also, the price for the food and drinks, I thought reasonable. Now for the big one, it was my birthday dinner and they sat us right beside the kitchen where the staff stood around when not serving, I got to watch them wipe silver, pick up the food and run past us over the evening. I felt like I was a part of the staff as opposed to a paying customer. Terrible spot to put a couple out for a romantic evening, if you have to put a table there, just don't take my reservation as this made the decision for me that I would probably not go back, when we have so many great restaurant in this city. It was very difficult to have a conversation over the clanging of silver ware, dishes and the chef's talking in the back ground. Sitting in that spot too away from our evening.
We were there this past Sunday. There were 4 of us in our party. My wife wasn't very hungry, she just wanted an appetizer. We ordered a bottle of wine, then the waitress told my wife it would be a $10 extra charge if she only ordered the appetizer, she was very upset. She proceeded to order an entre that she did not want. The waitress was decent. The food was okay. We've been here numerous times over the years, WE WILL NEVER GO BACK!! The $10 charge for nothing was just ridiculous. We did have 2 bottles of wine and dinner. I just don't like being gouged!
The new owner has done a remarkable job of positioning this restaurant as one of Windsor's best. A hidden gem that is both warm and cozy. Excellent for any special occasion or even just a night out. The food is consistently delicious and beautifully presented. One of my favorites... Great for all occasions. Reserve early to ensure your preferred seating. Nut-free requests are also accommodated.
Our family enjoyed our meal so much a few months ago that we brought more members this evening to enjoy also. Our server answered our questions and the other staff were very attentive to our needs. The beef tips were exquisite. Each of the pasta dishes were fresh and the sauce was truly authentic from the Agnone area. The owner came to our table to make sure all our food was done to our liking. We didn’t feel like we were going to a restaurant but rather visiting family and enjoying a home-cooked meal. We can’t wait to go again.
I went there for the first time last night and I don’t think there are any other restaurants in Windsor that top The Cook Shop. The food was absolutely delicious between the bread and salad and our entrees (I highly recommend the Gorgonzola Gnocchi). But above that, the service and hospitality of the staff was unmatched. Everyone was so welcoming and kind and it made the experience just that much better. If you haven’t been there, I highly recommend trying it out. :)
We were impressed by the host who greeted us, the waiter’s skills and the menu content. The chef is amazing and we enjoyed the atmosphere along with the appetizers, different main entrees and deserts. The wine list is excellent. We highly recommend it and we will definitely go back soon!
