I've always enjoyed the food and service at the Pearson over the last few years. The menu has a wide variety of options with everything you could want. Looking forward to visiting again!
On a previous visit to the Pearson Pub, I had a close encounter with a Butter Chicken on a sizzling plate. The waitress' balance was off. She missed me (barely!), but my poor fiance was covered in his potential dinner. This time, I was taking a friend from out of town and her daughters out for dinner on the recently passed Civic Holiday. I'd been raving about how fantastic the Pearson Pub is and... 1) Dirty glasses, saucers and silverware 2) Our waitress went off in a huff post-complaint and never returned. No new glass, no fresh beer. 0. She thought we wanted the manager. My friend simply explained how dirty tableware wasn't acceptable especially during Covid. (A nurse would notice things like that and she did!) 3) My friend's 2 girls had to share 1 tiny tub of sour cream 4) The 5 glasses of water I requested at the beginning of the meal arrived mid-meal. Out if kindness to the young waitress who took over, I left a 15% tip on $75. We won't be returning, which is unfortunate.
I came to this pub today for lunch and I just have to say how wonderful of an experience I had. Not only was the food amazing but the service was great! The staff was so friendly and created a really positive memorable experience! My family and I will definitely be back soon! Highly recommend
Went to The Pearson Pub the other day and had an amazing experience! I had the wings and they were delicious. On top of the great food, the service was spectacular! Most friendly and fast servers ever! Will definitely come back again!
This was our first time at The Pearson Pub. I get the feeling it's a bit of a Whitby institution, so we were looking forward to it. The ambiance on the patio was very nice (give it a 4.6/5), and the food (I had a roast beef sandwich and my wife had a BLT) was very good (say 4.1/5). Why I am only giving a 2-star rating overall comes down to one word: SERVICE. It was absolutely terrible -almost as if I was on candid camera. Here are a couple of examples... We were told to sit anywhere, so we did and then waited 25 minutes before anyone came to the table with menus. We waited another 15 minutes to order our drinks and food (we ordered everything at once as we could see how things were going). We got our drinks fairly quickly, and the food wasn't far behind, so all good there. We didn't get a side of gravy we ordered, and my sandwich was missing the au jus... we also didn't have any cutlery, napkins or condiments... I had to go get those myself. And I did order another beer (first from one waitress, then as a reminder to the second waitress) but it never arrived (at least it wasn't on the bill). I understand waiting tables is a tough gig, the turnover is high, people don't show up, etc. I have seen short-staffed restaurants before, but at least the people working appear to be making an effort (so the customers cut them some slack). Not so today. Our experience today means there's no chance we'd ever go back to The Pearson, which is a shame as it's a cool spot. And finally, when it was time to settle up I had to ask twice for the bill. I am typically a 20% tipper and honestly cannot remember the last time I didn't tip. But I didn't tip today... I just couldn't do it.
Wings were good and service was great. A bit windy on the patio that day, but that was not something the staff could control.Will go back again.
Great dive bar in downtown whitby. Still has that old pub vibe but I dig it. The patio is the main feature when it’s lit up at night it’s gorgeous. Always something going on for entertainment. Food is always good. Chicken and waffles is amazing. Sidney served me she’s very nice and up beat! Will be back for sure!
Great food and value. The prices are always more than fair for volume and the food is really good. Great wait staff and a good atmosphere round out this pub. Lots of live music and a fantastic patio ready for the summer.
This is a great place to go to eat. I've had a lot of different things on the menu and I've never been disappointed. Wings here are really good too. Prices are great and so are the servers. Recommend this place for sure.
