Underwhelmed & Unimpressed. Tried to make an order for pickup, was told "just come in and order". Took about 10 minutes for my order to be fulfilled which isn't bad, but I was still wanting to order ahead so as to not have had to wait. Just about 50.00 for a family of 3. Which is fine, if it's good. And while the portions were decent, I can't say it tastes good or bad. It tasted like nothing. The fish (which was like 5/6 batter) and the fries both had zero flavor. I may as well have been drinking a bottle of crunchy vegetable oil because that's what it was like. And each 2 piece dinner had only 1 packet of tartar, and there were no lemons. Also, it wasn't like 2 nice olbig pieces of fish, each meal was like 6 or 7 tiny pieces of fish. Definitely not what I was expecting. And I won't come here again. This is not the place it used to be. Do yourself a favor and instead of coming here just soak some pieces cardboard in some oil and know that you are not only saving money but still enjoying more flavor than that of the fish at Newfoundland's Own.

I must say i have heard great things about this place...but i was rather dissappointed when we tried them friday...fries were nasty, hard and grease soaked...fish was a good size, but the batter was tasteless..the pre packets of tartar sauce were disgusting...sorry to say i would not recommend them at all, and felt i could do better for the $47 we spent...first and last time customer

After months of hearing rave reviews about this place, I decided to try it. The service was great and fast but the disappointment hit when I opened the "Boatload of Fish" Family Meal at home. Though the portion sizes were good, the fish had little flavor and the fries were very greasy. The tartar sauce tasted more like a garlic mayo and was not what I have always known tartar sauce to be. I was not happy with my order, and at just under 50 dollars, it was disappointing and regrettable to say the least.

I wish I had something better to say, but there has been a significant change in the product and quality. Based on this most recent experience I would guess it is under new ownership. I have been a proud supporter for 20+ years and frequently recommend them to anyone who asks where to go for good fish and chips.First off, NewFoundLands Own has always prepared everything in house, including their vinegar. It is mild and goes wonderfully with their fish, which has always been beautifully white, flaky and delicious cod. Tonight I was served a grey, textureless and tasteless pollock. I will happily pay more anywhere I go to avoid pollock, if that is all they server, I will leave without ordering. Now if that wasn't bad enough, the batter was no longer their light and crispy homemade batter. It was definitely thick, fell off the fish and tasted of old, oxidized oil. I still have a horrible after taste in my mouth. Lastly the fries, definitely not cooked enough, and wasn't even seasoned. Fries 101, season your fries as soon as they come out of the fryer or they will be bland and tasteless. I also noticed they didn't lightly dress the fries with homemade vinegar like they have always done in the past (I requested it when I order because I didn't recognize any of the workers.) When all you do is 1 thing, in this case fish and chips, you need to do it really well and get all the little details right. All I can say, is I was extremely disappointed. NewFoundLand, you need to do better, and you have done better for nearly 30 years. Yes times are tough, your customers will understand the need for a price increase to maintain a high quality product. They won't remain your customer, if you lower your standards and serve a substandard product. Remember, if you won't take care of your customers, someone else will.

Would not recommend it, portion of the large order was big but they lack quality. Fries were sitting there and tasted old, greasy and chewy. The fish was mostly batter and very greasy. Just didn’t feel like fresh fish and chips. They say it gets ready in 4 minutes! At least give an option, I wouldn’t mind waiting longer to get freshly made food and fries rather than re frying or heating some piece of fish. I also suggest to the owner to offer more fish options and maybe shrimp too.

Went there tonite because we were on that side of town… we were very disappointed in the fish it was under cooked and wasn’t drained at all the bag they put it in was dripping with oil… the fries were excellent… I used to come here every week when I worked at Bonanza video .. I’m sorry I won’t be back again… sad customer

Can't go wrong with the fish at this place. Order is usually prepared quickly and always fresh.

A year ago I would if given 5 stars as this use to be our go to place. Over the past year quality has gone down hill. Twice now ordered poutine and there has been so little gravy it is more like cheese curds melted on the top layer of fries.

Twice now ordered poutine and it has basically been fries some cheese curds and only enough gravy for 1/4 of fries. Sadly over the past year quality has been going down hill.

Food was good large portion.Counter staff can use some training in customer service.
