This was our first visit to Hemlock Barn and our experience was not satisfactory. We ordered medium breakfast, sonic dog, and some wings for take out. The food was average but the staff were friendly but the service was not great. We arrived at noon and we left at almost 2pm because the food came out late (we were waiting outside, after waiting 40-45mins had to go inside to check and found out that the order wasn't placed properly. If you sit outside, I recommend you to go inside to check your order and remind the staff one more time you are sitting outside)Well, I am sorry to leave this disappointing review but wish I had a better experience since this place was one of the restaurants on my 'want-to-go' list for a long time. For those of you who want to check out this place, you would better go when this place is not busy and when you have plenty of time.
I was craving a Smash Burger. For about $30 take out, I got the Fried Onion Burger (double) and Brisket Poutine. This was my first time at the Barn, but I had been to the previous location on Hemlock St.Maybe it was an off day, but the burger was dry and a bit under-seasoned. The onions were nice, but since the burger came without condiments (other than onions & cheese) that was the only source of any sweetness - I dipped in some pre-packaged Ranch they provided to get some more flavour. It looked better than it tasted - I would opt for a different burger next time. The poutine with house smoked brisket was okay. In the previous location I loved the fries, so next time I'd get the fries plain, not as a poutine.Service was exceptionally friendly and fast for take out. As a dine in location, the building has a great vibe, I wouldn't mind trying that next time. Just didn't quite hit the mark today, but I will try again with a burger with more condiments in future.
Great blend between burgers and breakfast. Burger was made fresh, the ingredients paired well and the breakfast plate was a decent portion size. The fries where my favourite! Highly recommend.Aside from that, it was a very warm and welcoming vibe from the friendly staff to the connect four game in the patio.
Stopped in for a beer but they are waiting for their liquor license. We had an ice cream cone instead. This is a quaint country location and we will be back to try their food. Friendly staff and great service.
The burger was one of the best ? I would really return back. The service was very friendly. Awesome.Thank you @hemlock barn
Burgers and breakfast — it’s the perfect combination! Excellent good and friendly service. The restaurant was very clean, and we enjoyed our meals very much! And getting to choose your own salt and pepper shakers was such a fun touch!
I love smash burgers so knowing there is one in the KW region is awesome ! The Hemlock Barn also use potato roll buns so the buns are super soft too! I got the Smash Banquet and the everything burger. Both were super delicious and I couldn’t forget their? fries because it was super crispy and well seasoned- a must pairing with their burgers! They also serve breakfast in the daytime, so I must check it out next time!
The finest of fresh, local ingredients combined with classic techniques and flavours make this the ultimate local destination for burgers and breakfast. Great deals on milkshakes, icecream, wings and so many other awesome features. Hemlocks become my default go to.
Finally got out to try the new location.Love the atmosphere.I ordered breakfast and hubby had the double Mr.Mac.Both meals were absolutely delicious! The onion rings are made in house and delicious. My eggs were cooked to perfection...which may not seem like a big deal, but it is for me. Most places can't get it right.Coffee is nice and fresh too...Love that they support so many local businesses while serving up some stellar eats. ?
Came to Hemlock Barn tonight for wing night and I know we will be back!So close to Waterloo, very cool spot in an old barn but a completely refinished space, while keeping the character. Pay at the front for food and drinks, have a seat and they bring it to you. There is an event space/upcoming bar in the basement and they are working on getting a liquor license. I peeked my head in and this could be a great spot for small events! Even had a beautifully refinished mini stage with AV.The WingsMASSIVE. Perfect amount of sauce, came out very fast and piping hot. $1/EA on Monday, good breading, perfectly crispy. Honestly cooked to perfection.DessertReese's pie - Light and airy yet still so many levels; perfect crunch, perfect amount of topping, soft, not overpowering with peanut flavor. It was decadent. Glad we just got one because I could have eaten a slab. The owner, Josh, was lovely. We chatted to him for a while - love to see an owner operator who is super passionate about being a part of the community and giving back. Can't wait to come back for burgers!
