Great times, great staff and food is amazing
Just avoid it. New location is good but the staff is bad. It’s not like the old location where the bartenders and servers are amazing. Avoid this new location! The new staff are rude and it’s pretty unacceptable for todays standard of service! Was a bartender for 10 years. I’m a lawyer and shocked how bad my recent experience was there. The bartenders and staff are complacent and asked me to leave because one of my friends had a previous conflict with someone who had worked there in the past.
Came here on Thursday night for live music and you can tell that the people working and coming here have a lot of history with the pub. At the same time, there were definitely newcomers like us and everyone was treated pleasantly with the friendliest staff you could find. The British Pub vibes were definitely there and their new location is promising with a dimly lit atmosphere.As for food, the scotch eggs with grainy mustard were delicious. Drinks were poured perfectly and we ended up staying longer than intended. We would definitely return here again as it would be a crime not to!
Love the new location in south Uptown Waterloo. It's clean, modern, has higher ceilings, and one space versus having multiple little areas in the old restaurant. The fact that they are bringing walking clientele to the southern end of Uptown is fantastic!
Fish & Chips
This place is next to my work I go here regularly. The food and drinks are great the ambiance is lovely. The French manager is rude. Several times I’ve come in and he has messed up my order. I’ve asked for gf food that hasn’t been possible, he’s been rude as hell about it. Would not recommend he is arrogant and abrupt. He ruined my experience, he had a bad vibe.

Yummy pub food and a friendly wait staff made our outdoor patio experience at “The Duke” wonderful!
Ordered a burger for dinner, was not impressed. I could have saved money if I went to the grocery store and bought the boxed frozen burgers and grilled it myself. If the burgers were homemade it would have been better and I would have been able to give more stars.
