The food is pretty good, it's the service that stands out - the wait staff are so attentive. Our server this time was Ronak and he treated us like we were at a fine dining establishment. Everyone who worked there was incredibly polite.
I waited for over 25 mins after she gave me my water and she still did not come to take my order. So walked out. Totally disgusted
We had such a bad experience I wanted to share with others. The servers were nice and the hostess was nice but when it came down to it they didn't help at all. My husband had the eggs florentine - they were fine but bland. I had the fish tacos which were not good at all, but I ate them because I assumed I just picked wrong on the menu. The prices were very high for what we received. My chai latte was good. Disappointed with the meals we still decided to go for cake. We got the hummingbird cake. Looked beautiful, we both took a bite and immidiatly spit it out. It was hard like it had been left out for days. We immidiatly asked our server to please take it off the bill it was clearly hard and old . The server came back and said she couldn't take the cake off the bill because "that's the texture of the cake". My husband said ok, and paid the bill. I was super upset because I've never sent food back before in my life as it's usually not justified. But this was really gross, and they really dropped the ball. It wasn't worth talking to a manager about. I'll just leave this here instead. The fact that we spent over 12 bucks on a dried out old brick of a cake still bugs me. Don' t worry though, they offered to send us home with it. Horrible.
Good place! Love it!
I’m sure we just visited on an off day, but we had a horrible experience here. Some of the staff were doing their best, which was appreciated. However, it was an organizational disaster. We went as a group and placed our brunch orders ahead of time (as per their request). They had our orders 24 hours in advance. The reservation was made almost a week in advance. It took them an hour to get us our drinks and just over 2 hours to get us our food. Multiple people didn’t even end up getting their orders at all, despite re-ordering those meals 2 hours into the visit. The food was sub par. I visit the Symposium in Guelph quite often, and this food was nowhere near as good as the other location. After waiting an hour and a half, some of the people in our party ended up leaving and just going over to Sunset Grill, where they were served and ended up finishing their meals even before us. Since the reservation was for brunch for the day after our wedding, it was very disappointing. I love the Symposium in Guelph, so booking our brunch here was a no brainer to me (closer to where family was staying overnight after the wedding). If I could go back in time, we probably were better off going through the McDonald’s drive thru ?♀️I won’t be back to this location.
Wonderful experience! Greeted at the door by the manager and escorted out to the patio. Server was prompt and polite. He recommended the fries and they did not disappoint! Desserts were fantastic too. Definitely go back !
I only go to Symposium maybe once a year. I went last night to celebrate my bday with some cake. The server was very friendly and kind.I am docking them two stars for one reason alone: the cost! Yes, the cakes are delicious, there's no debating that. However currently they cost about $20 PER SLICE (with tax and tip). That's more than a custom bakery cake.I probably won't be going back, sorry!
Went to this location for birthday dinner. If you want bad food and pay jacked prices then this is the place to go. Staff were very friendly, but the food was just awful. We usually go to the location in Guelph and the food is always great, so we thought we give the Waterloo location a try. Ordered the spinach cheese dip. Looked nothing like it was suppose to and tasted like garbage. My strawberry daiquiri was just crushed ice with no flavour. Couldn’t even drink it. The chicken Cesar wrap was super soggy lettuce. My husband ordered the curry bowl. Said it was bad as well. Will not ever be going back to this location and wouldn’t recommend it.
I've been going to this Symposium every now and then since it opened years ago. Always a friendly staff and classic decor so it's a good place to go hangout and enjoy some desserts. As always their cake was great, slightly pricey but worth the bucks. I think they can work on their coffees though, I've actually never had food here only coffees and desserts, these alone are worth 4 stars for me, if coffee gets better I would rate it higher.
We went in at a time when they weren't busy at all. Greeted by a server in training, she was lovley. Server switched 2 more times and the food we got was... It was just bad. The chicken strips where so over done they were elastics and our friends poutine was hourendous. He ended sending it back as the fries were hardly cooked. I tried sending back these god awful chicken fingers and the supervisor tried to say "we can't take them back as they were at the table for 15 min" even though I waited 10 min for them to bring out the right sauce that's supposed to come out with the chicken tenders. They ended up replacing them... They were still awful, ur better off getting tenders from Any other fast food joint. It's sad as the symposium in uptown waterloo is such a higher standard of cooking. You can tell by the pictures that these tenders are not only over cooked but also cooked in a oil that no doubt has not been changed in a long time. Disappointing.
