We were looking for something delicious that was open late at night after a long day of work and would have settled for something simple but we're very pleasantly surprised to find such a happening and delicious restaurant! They do have a very good reputation for great food and a good time and the place was near capacity at 11:00 p.m. on a Friday night. We ordered a 1 kg mixed grill for our party of four and it was literally the perfect amount of food! All the meats especially the kafta were juicy and flavorful and the dips especially the eggplant were satisfyingly delicious. The pita was another one of the highlights coming from the kitchen hot and fluffy was the perfect accompaniment to the mixed grill and dips. We had a great time and for sure we will be back!
Went there for lunch the other day. Very good menu with lots to choose from. My sister had the chicken shwarma sanf, I the veal sanj and my wife the chick pea sampler. All were excellent. The service could have been much better. The server never came back during our meal and I had to flag him down to get the check. Prices were not bad at all. Overall, we'd go back since the food is good.
The good: I asked for extra pickled turnips and they definitely delivered! The baba ganoush was fresh and complemented the grilled halloumi very well. The hummus was the smoothest I have ever had.The not-so-good: almost everything was too salty. It tasted good for a few bites and then the salt really hit. The falafel was dry and the seasoning was odd. I can't quite put my finger on what it was, but it was odd.
Before you even enter Chic Pea, you can smell the wood oven they use to make their pita fresh made to order. This was my first visit so I went with the Chic Pea Trio of dips: hummus, mutabal and baba ganouj. Beautifully plated and each dip was fantastic and a great deal at only $15.I wanted to make sure I tried something from the grill as well so they very kindly provided me a small side of chicken Shwarma, even though it's not on the menu. The Shwarma was crispy and delicious and beautifully spiced. I appreciated a salt grinder at the table as I like a lots of salt but also appreciate that they have a gentle touch with seasoning in the kitchen.I recommend the Hummus and Shwarma at $12 if you like dip and Shwarma. The pita is divine. The smoking smell of the wood oven, the warmth and softeners of the bread is a thing if beauty. The pita doesn't have a touch of cinnamon like Cafe Arabesque - I found I didn't miss it and I know some would prefer plain pita to give focus the rest of the meal.Service was excellent. Food was outstanding. Looking forward to discovering the rest of the menu.
Not bad but not great. I went into this place because I saw “authentic Syrian shawarma” written on the outside.. maybe I’m wrong, but it tastes nothing like authentic Middle Eastern (Lebanese or Syrian) shawarma. The spices they use remind me more of Indian food, similar to what you’d eat at Osmows or Lazeez.
I had a 5 star review up. I love their food. But, now they have openened Hukka House in the same place and serve hookah alongside the middle eastern food. The music is being played very loud.Although the food is still very good, I do not want to have dinner in a dark place with disco lights and people playing cards all around me. Not the vibe I am looking for at all.
This restaurant used to be great. I think they switched the owner. it has gone downhill from food to service. I went with my friends for a buffet dinner" IFTAR" most of the food wasn't taste good, except for the chicken. The sweet ( KINAFA) was salty!! The family next to us found something strange on their food ( not too sure what was it but we heard the waiter apologize). too loud we couldn't hear one another speak. I paid $45 for this horrible buffet. very disappointed
Ordered chicken arabia platter , chicken was old and dry ! Not impressed with quality of chicken . The lady at counter told i can swap rice instead of fries but they still put fries . $15 for a tasteless and old chicken pieces in shawarma is definitely not good !They make the plate look filled with there watery and tasteless salad as well .
Nice restaurant, great service, fresh and delicious food
This is a hidden gem in Waterloo. The food was incredibly good and tasty and was served in well presented dishes by very friendly staff. The portions was also surprisingly large! We had Turkish meat pizza and grilled chicken both had a unique taste.
