The food was amazing. We ordered delivery all the way from Burlington and it lived up to all the hype. The Singapore noodles were perfect with the right amount of spice. The portions were very generous, we’ll be having leftovers for days. Can’t wait until we order again!!!
Didn't grow up around the previous location but heard all the legendary stories from friends and neighbours. Ordered for my family last week and it was exceptional! Shared nine dishes between four of us and had good mix of choices for everyone with lots left over! Prices are very reasonable and in line with the handful of other Cantonese-style restaurants in upper/mid town Toronto. Plum sauce is unbelievable and the chicken sticks - goodness (totally get why people stocked up and froze them when Sea-Hi closed back in 2020)!Understand it's the same team in the kitchen from the previous location and the quality and flavour is testament to that! Will be back as a "new convert" to Sea-Hi Famous Chinese!
We tried Sea-Hi for the first time in their new location recently. Although normally customers of another nearby establishment trying new places is always a welcome change. Unfortunately our experience was rather poor. The main issue was that the cost of the dishes was far higher than what one would expect for the portion size. At an average of $16-20 for each dish, we felt the portion size was lacking. The containers were not packed full and between three people four dishes yielded few if any leftovers. Keep in mind, we normally have enough for two small meals from our usual place. Secondly, one of our favorite dishes from any restaurant is beef ho/chow fun. Sea-Hi's take on this was extremely salty and had no smoky "wok hei" at all. Lastly, on a positive note the vegetables (of what small amount they were) were fresh/high quality and their plum sauce was also very tasty. Considering the reputation Sea-Hi has we really expected much better for the price we paid both with regards to taste and value. Nostalgia cannot keep a business afloat and unless Sea-Hi starts improving the value-for-money of their food I'm not optimistic that the new iteration will be a long term success. P.S. Sea-Hi doesn't even give fortune cookies and instead offers them at $0.15 on the menu, that right there is a pure nickel-and-dime example if I ever saw it.
I’m not sure what happened yesterday. Was so excited to order both gluten free and regular dishes. So it was an expensive treat for our Mother’s Day It was totally our fault that the pickup was delayed The attended event ran over an hour late. But, that should not have affected the food. It was bland and tasteless We were not prepared for this Plus the portions were small. It was a good thing we had actually ordered to accommodate our gf people I should comment that while it was not tasty. Food was fresh and looked good The only reason two stars were given The lack of taste was the problemI know with costs these days, it is product costing more or portions smaller End result. We didn’t eat most of it. Nor did we enjoy. Don’t think we’ll order from Sea Hi again Taste is what countsOne other problem was that they would not accept credit card payment. It was a bit awkward as this was a Mother’s Day treat and one of the mothers picking up had to pay Thanks for e-transfer
I had not been to Sea-Hi since I was a kid at the Old location at Bathurst & Wilson. I decided to give the new location a try and glad I did. I got the sweet and sour chicken balls, egg rolls and fried rice. It was exceptional. Fresh, tasted great and was not greasy. The Plum sauce is second to none. It feels like the quality of many years ago. The women at the cash were very nice and friendly. This will be my new Go To Chinese Food spot.
Sea-Hi is back and better than ever. The food is identical to the incredible Sea Hi we all remember, the place is cleaner, and the equipment is newer. The new location hired back all the old workers even their delivery driver. If you've never had Sea Hi you must eat here. If you have then you'll be happier than ever.10 stars.
We waited more than an hour and a half for a take out order we were told would be ready at 6:15. (we ordered it at noon) we ate at 8:00 pm. not compensated for that immense waste of our time. The order had mistakes, they substituted greasy spring rolls for the egg rolls we ordered without asking. We were charged for plum sauce and honey garlic sauce. our order was south of $150.00. My wife contacted the owner said he'd send $25 credit. He never did. While some of the food was same as old sea hi. order sizes and cost and other issues make it a bad deal. Let's be clear, I never post a review like this without giving the restaurant a chance to make good. He offered something he never delivered.
The food was really good and exactly like I remember. It's The Pricing, which is in line with Cynthia's, that makes me go hmmmm, since that's fine table service vs take out. The chick stix are more expensive than the king prawns at Cindy's once you add in the home made plum sauce. I think for the price, it should be included. Please give out chopstix & mustard - ya know, at these prices....
Food is safe mediocre and not worth the price!! Better food elsewhere!
