I've been searching for a congee restaurant west of Markham and east of Mississauga. This area is barren of good Chinese food options for the most part. Ann's peaked my interest after reading their positive reviews. Upon arrival, Ann's kitchen aromas were worth drooling over. Our hopes were raised.Our takeout feast for two was ready at the counter. Ann's Special Fried Rice was tasty though a bit dry, and came in a generous portion with shrimp, scallop and other seafood bits. HK Style Spicy Clam was infused with wok flavours and would've been delicious if not for the broken shells in every bite!The Chicken Congee was a safe bet, smooth with large chunks of tender meat. With congee, I almost always order Deep Fried Calamari, and theirs was quite comparable to the other more well-known restaurants. However, their Deep Fried Chicken did not impress the KFC fan in our household. The meat was too dry, the dark crispy skin was over-fried, and tasted just bland overall.Sadly I didn't get to meet the friendly Ann, and food was mostly mediocre on this visit. I came for takeout because the restaurant was said to have limited dine-in tables. Yet only 1 out of their 4 tables were occupied on the Sunday evening visit. Good flavours, wishing for better execution.
I love Ann’s Congee! The OK chicken is my absolute favourite. The food portions are massive. Everything is delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone, make sure when you call to order you have the numbers from the menu, makes it a lot easier.
Ordered here for take out, great packaging, good portions and value. Just as good as other authentic popular Chinese restaurants. Congee was flavorful, had ratio of ingridients. Deep fried salt and pepper squid was done well but could have used a bit more spice but this is subjective to taste. Other than that was thoroughly pleased with overall quality.
Great food, very reasonably priced for the size of the portions (really big). Fair amount of meat and seafood in the dishes. Super fresh, extremely tasty, not too much oil but definitely a lot of good flavors in the food. Highly recommended!
We love this place, we have been trying Chinese food places for years but once we discovered this little gem we only order from here.We usually order the General Tso chicken, the rice noodles and recently tried the beef with mushroom. Everything is yummy and we have a family member who is sensitive to MSG and they don't suffer too much when we order from Ann's.Highly recommended
Great food. Very taste fresh and plenty to go round. Freindly quick service. Never had a bad meal from there. Plenty flavourful never over cooked food
We ordered from here because a friend recommended Ann's Congee to my husband and I, and we're so glad we gave it a try! The prices were super reasonable for their portion sizes, and the noodles had great flavour and was not greasy at all. Make sure you call ahead of time for pick up as they get pretty busy! Ann took our order and was very friendly. We will definitely try again!
The food is amazing!! Comparing to so many Cantonese restaurants we have been to, this little restaurant serves amazing quality on top of generous quantity!When we first arrived, owner seemed irritated, but I remember being here for dine in before the pandemic, she was really friendly and nice, she was nice when we went back in to pick up.Go try this restaurant if you are looking for authentic Cantonese food or just want a taste of Chinese food, you will love it. Highly recommended!!!
