Went for high tea. Tldr at the end.Pro: The food was almost all delicious, certainly. The waiters were a little inatentive, not quite what i would expect from such an expensive(High class?) place.Cons: The atmosphere was very, very disappointing. This place looks like it was forgotten in the 70s. Depressing, dark lighting. Old looking, grey carpet. No windows, unfortunately. Certainly no flowers at the table, unlike the photo theyve uploaded here. The whole place was dreary, and i would say almost ruined the whole experience. The only things i liked were the chairs and the cups/plates.The gluten free option really needs some work. Anything that was bread-like was pretty awful. Sandwich bread was dry and stale, scones were as dense as bricks, so we left these things mostly untouched. Anything that didnt have gluten free flour or whatever in it was fine. The posset was especially delicious.TLDR: it was interesting and the non gluten-free food was all very delicious. Im glad i tried it once, but i wouldnt come again. The atmosphere was just too depressing.
We took our 2 grandkids to tea after the Nutcracker. We were seated in a bare ugly room, not as seen on your website. The service was terrible, food arrived slapped on plates, again not as seen. We will never eat or stay at the King Edward again due to this revolting experience. And we were charged over $150. for nothing. You should be ashamed.
Always love the Christmas brunch!
High tea was awesome! Thank you
While we understand that this restaurant was very short staffed, we also cant believe how horrible the service was. we had a reservation for 10am. We didn't sit until 1015am. No one even came to get our drink order for well over 20 minutes. at this point, we also ordered out food. When our order came, no one checked back in. I waited for someone to come back with maple syrup for my French toast but it never came. I was hungry so I ate anyway. When we were done we tried flagging someone down for our bill... I ended up getting up & going to ask the woman at the front door. anyway, do not recommend !!! While clearly they were under staffed, its important to know that they cannot fill every seat if you cant accommodate each guest
Arrived at 10:15 Sunday morning and were served at 11:10am . No apologies from the staff. We had the Fried & True breakfast which was pathetic compared to what's available at other restaurants. Perhaps management should visit Sunset Grill to sample a good breakfast. Had we not had an elderly person in our party we would have walked to another restaurant.
we booked for afternoon tea for my birthday. got there and they told us that they didn’t have our reservation and that they no longer use opentable to make reservations. luckily they were able to put together a table for us but it was out in the hotel lounge. prices went up and the heater tea for kids were no longer available. service was very professional and nice. all in all wasn’t as good as it use to be. i’ve been going for a number of years now for special occasions. not sure i will be back.
Horrible service, rushed you and never checked in to see if you needed anything. Allows you to make a reservation when the kitchen is closed. Price is not worth it for food that’s better elsewhere. Plenty of other options in the area. If you have food allergies they don’t care to pay attention so be very careful. Don’t recommend, go elsewhere.
Visiting Victoria's Restaurant for afternoon tea has become a Christmas tradition for my girlfriend and I. The atmosphere is wonderful (always very festive). This year tea was held in the Sovereign Ballroom, which was a stunning room. The tea itself is always delightful; we both had the traditional Nutcracker Tea, which had a great selection of tasty sandwiches and desserts. The service is always great and friendly as well. We will be back next year!
Fabulous service, great atmosphere and good food that is convenient for Bay Street.
