I had doubts before visiting Vela that the place is overvalued. However, I believe that the place is totally worth trying. Service was exceptional. The staff was very knowledgeable and was beyond friendly. Food and drink was definitely considered expensive but I think overall good value for money. The octopus is a must have. I totally recommend
What an absolute amazing dining experience, from start to finish. I was initially worried it would just be another overpriced restaurant with “cool vibes” but I was quickly proven otherwise. Yes the ambiance was great and made for a fun and comfortable dining experience. But the star of this restaurant was the FOOD!! Wow. They served the best octopus I’ve ever tasted. We also ordered the ceviche which tasted so fresh and tart. The cocktails and dessert also followed suit. The service was friendly and we got all our food in a timely fashion. The menu can be pricey but the quality and variety they have is so worth it. I’ll definitely be going back.
What an extraordinary experience. We first sat on the patio and then decided to move to the bar. The place was packed, and the hostess named Treasure was a real jewel. Her personality, beauty, and charisma floated us to our seats, where Nathan and Chris greeted us. The service was extraordinary! The food is magical. We sat by the bar and talked to the cooks and chefs, who answered all our questions about the delicious food they were preparing. We ordered one appetizer and five entrees, and unfortunately, we ran out of storage and couldn't try the deserts, but we are coming back for another round. 5 stars all the way!!!!!
The first visit when they had just opened was great. I had my second visit last night and it was disappointing.The overall service was mediocre.The welcoming amuse bouche was no longer provided. We got a beef tartare, crispy mushroom, vela pasta, halibut and a steak.Vela pasta was nothing more than a tomato pasta. The smoky, earthy flavour was hard to be identified.Steak was overcooked - we had to return it and ask for a new one. Asked for a medium rare but it was just medium. They have a nice grill but do not seem to know how to use it properly.The rest of the dishes were average. Nothing impressive.The cocktails were nice.
The atmosphere mops here is beautiful, very contemporary, great vibe. The it’s a great place for after work drinks or evening cocktails. Service is great, staff is super friendly and relatively attentive.The food pretty good but not quite as good as I had hoped. Everything is good, but nothing was a standout disk
We enjoyed the food and the server was very helpful and friendly. We ordered a ceviche for appetizer and it was amazing. The truffle pasta was cooked perfectly but a bit disappointed that there wasn’t much shaved truffle on top as seen in the photos of other reviews. I was never a big fan of truffle but my partner really enjoyed it. The flatiron steak was nicely cooked.The restaurant was beautifully decorated and had had a great ambience created by the soft lighting. We went there on a Sunday night so it was quite full and a bit too loud to make conversations for a romantic date night. Great place for Instagram photos.
Went to Vela on a Thursday night with a large group of 8 for cocktails and had an incredible experience. The host who greeted us was extremely pleasant and our server was amazing! He had extensive knowledge of their large cocktail menu, and gave perfect recommendations for our entire group. Decor and ambiance was also on point. Will definitely have to return to try the food!
Beautiful interiors. Beautiful cocktails and amazing service!Right of the bat we loved their mezcal based 'Mos Eielsey Cantina' from the menu and thereafter asked for custom Mezcal cocktails and they hit the spot. Loved their Vela pasta - shrimp was juicy and soft like butter. Black cod had a lovely after taste of lemon and basil. We ended the meal with a classic '20th century' dessert cocktail and it was perfect way to round up our date night. Would love to visit again
Interior is beautiful. Love the design of the entire restaurant. Also the service is amazing! Everyone that you interact with is friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food. The pork collard was our favourite. The crispy mushrooms and chicken liver was also good and we would reorder. Wish we had more room for pasta but we were very full from the other dishes which are reasonably sized. We tried the miso blueberry dessert. It was light and a nice way to end the meal.
First, the staff of this place are on point. Service is organized, efficient and unobtrusive. Small things matter and Vela excels at the details that make this not just a restaurant but a dining experience (like napkins being folded when someone gets from table, fresh cutlery per course and cocktails with proper accoutrements - this is all on point and well executed). Kudos to the team. On food and cocktails, this place a New York vibe (in a good way). Presentation is Instagramable and taste superb. This place is great for a date or business dinner.
