Honestly, the BEST jerk chicken in the city!Best kept secret in the food court of a mall?!?!???BITE SIZE pieces of chicken is what makes it so special - always a generous portion, more than I can even finish in one sitting and I am a BIG eater too.The potatoes are reminiscent of my grandmothers and mom's. The rice and peas are on point with a lot of oxtail gravy. Love the house hot sauce, and the little shot of slaw is a nice cooling palette cleanser for afterwards.I usually order for delivery - but if you go to the mall - the service is so great.
This place gives you the most meat out of any jerk chicken place ever, two times more than any place I've ever been to, maybe even 3 times. Decent price too. The workers are very very nice too, especially the Asian lady with glasses. Compared to some of the other jerk chicken places with miserable workers..I've brought over 10 people here and EVERY single one of them became addicted and called this place their #1 spot. Anything less than 5 stars and you probably have no tastebuds or you're cheap af.
Absolutely love this place. The food is always high quality and the staff are super friendly. I go here more often than I should! Portions are massive.The only thing I wish was different is that they would offer a jerk chicken on salad or veggies for those lighter days.

Stuffed beef patty with Jerk pork, coleslaw, onions, hot sauce all stuffed into a coco bread. So good and I was full for hours!
Tropical Joe's is my go to for Roti. The portion is huge, The meat, potatoes and gravy are always 100 which is served by friendly staff! I recently ordered roti from another establishment which really made me appreciate the quality and consistency Tropical Joe's has to offer. :)
Great place to go if your in person but my last 3 uber orders have been wrong, forgot the coleslaw twice, didn't put any gravy on it once was very dry( chose oxtail gravy) and when given the option to change Curry potato to chickpeas my food still came with potato which I was charged for the chickpeas. Start caring alittle more for ppl that order from Uber. That's why I'm giving 2 starts.
December 22, 2021Not wanting both rice AND potatoes, I opted for a roti today - jerk pork and curried potatoes (small). Chock full, spicy, and the pork was tender and succulent. Hit the spot perfectly and was an excellent weapon to fight off the cold wind today!November 30, 2021In Gerrard Square today doing a bit of Christmas shopping and as soon as I saw Tropical Joe's in the food court, I knew exactly where I would be having my lunch.Opted for the large jerk chicken dinner with curried potatoes, rice and peas and coleslaw. Hard to tell by the photo, but there really is rice and peas underneath all that chicken!The food servers are wonderful and thank God for that cool coleslaw!October 22, 2021Not often in this little mall (Gerrard Square), and when I am, I'm never in this little food court. Today, for some reason, I was here at lunchtime and Tropical Joe's was a name I didn't recognize.Tried the large jerk pork dinner. It came with rice and peas, curried potatoes and a very small side of coleslaw.Man - it was deelish!!Underneath that pile of meat is a full serving+ of the rice. Didn't even need the coleslaw other than as a cooling factor. The dinner was wonderfully spiced AND spicy! A return visit is definitely in order!7
The food here has always been good, but there's always some sort of problem each time I go, so likely not going back again as it's not worth the time or effort. Either they close early and don't provide notification or run out of something. Yesterday they ran out of potatoes, so I basically got rice and meat for 13$, felt ripped off. Was a long time customer, but never going back, as I've been disappointed too many times with this place despite the good food.
Anytime in the area this is my go to spot..Love The Curry Chicken Roti..It is filling and The Potions is well then enough. The Jerk Chicken is good too. Really Friendly staff and always nice too my girls when we show up.
