Fabulous gastro pub in the east end.
One of best burger joints in town
The Wren is everything you want in a gastropub and more - fantastic food, great selection of excellent beer wine and whiskey that vary often, fast and friendly service, nice place to sit inside and also outside when the weather is nice. Highly recommended! The Wren has become a popular staple along the stretch of Danforth that runs from Greenwood to Woodbine. Of the many gastropubs in the area, this one seems to have emerged as the most popular for the reasons noted above. It's almost always busy but not usually in a way that's overwhelming - they seem to be able to manage their high customer load, which is great! The Wren is a perfect place to meet up with friends or for a date night. I have found it's not as well-suited to families with young children as other places along Danforth - no kids menu and if I recall correctly they don't have booster seats/chairs in there (that may have changed though, if you wanted to check you could always phone them). Also you can't order takeout for a time in the future, you just kind of have to phone and they send the order to the kitchen right away - not a big deal at all and it's understandable for a place as busy as they are, just good to know as an FYI.
Good rotating drink menu and patio. Not really a fan of the food we had. It was a bit overpriced for the quality. I had the green chili chicken and found the dish a bit lacking in variety. It simply was chicken in a sauce served with very stale naan (felt store bought?).
I used to be a regular of this place- until tonight. I asked for mayo on the side of my dinner - which I have for months- and was instead given what I can only think was either sour cream or yogurt. I'm very lactose intolerant so this really upset my stomach, but instead of apologizing for an honest mistake our server instead tried to argue with my partner that he hadn't given me any dairy. We had to leave immediately because I was feeling really sick but all that they did was argue that they'd done nothing wrong. I've been in a lot of restaurants and I understand that mistakes happen but trying to gaslight your customers when you serve them food that makes them sick is beyond upsetting. I had to rush to a shopper's to get medicine due to this. So I won't be back at the Wren despite having previously quite enjoyed it - not taking dietary restrictions seriously is not okay and can cause people serious issues. They didn't even comp our meal. I'm just frankly disappointed and frustrated that a restaurant I used to really enjoy could be so callous. I don't recommend them if you've got any dietary restrictions as it seems pretty obvious that they do not care.
Great bar but the service is odd. I don't think the servers have set areas, so you get asked the same questions by multiple people. Like you're sitting waiting for a drink, someone takes your order, then a minute later someone else ask to take your order.Menu has good vegetarian options of that's your thing.
LOVE this local gem. Amazing beer list, and can craft a wonderful cocktail. The food is also top notch, and seriously some of the best fries in the city. Don't miss this one!
Cozy place to socialize or have a meal. I had the brussel sprout salad. Unusual combination.
The Wren has become a foamily favorite, dare I say my fiancé and I have come 3 times in a weeks span . The food is out of this world and the staff are welcoming, accommodating and above all extremely friendly. Highly recommend this hidden gem, you surely will not be disappointed !
Been going there for years and have not been disappointed. Staff is friendly and the food and beverages are great.
