We visited the Roti Hut during lunchtime when we were in the area during the provincial lockdown. We ordered Pumpkin and Spinach Double and Jerk Chicken Roti. Both were fresh and delicious, and we devoured them within a few minutes. The roti was very filling and freshly made. I wish they had a branch in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Good portion size for the jerk chicken roti, was at least a pound of food. Service was fast and they were busy too. Didn't taste much from the sauce, but the chicken was well seasoned.
Service was fast and efficient. Roti was really good. Curry chicken was also really good, or the goat. Recommend the pumpkin if you want veggie, the Spinach could use some salt. They have an in house peanut punch as well! Overall 5 stars.
Excellent food, wonderful flavours, affordable prices.I first got to sample the food from Roti Hut when my wife brought home half of her jerk chicken roti from a lunch where the staff at her work ordered out. This had to be one of the best rotis I have ever had, and was so full of flavour with a great balance of moisture from the curry, and an excellent dough for the roti. I ordered takeout from Roti Hut last month for my family on my birthday, and everyone loved the food. We tried a couple different rotis, the doubles, pholouries, and some patties. Everything was great, although I personally favoured the rotis and did not care too much for the doubles. Would highly recommend the restaurant for some excellent food if you are ever in the area.
This used to be the best authentic Trinidadian rotis in Toronto and my go to place for my roti cravings. But lately their roti is not what it’s used to be.I usually order the Chicken Breast Boneless Curry roti and I now find that they’re skimping on fillings and there’s not enough sauce inside the roti. The meat is also rather dry and the dhal puri flatbread is not fresh and tasted old.Not also a fan of their doubles, too mushy for my liking and filled mostly with bland curried channa (chickpeas).I also find the service slower than before. You always end up waiting more than 15 mins for your order eventhough it’s not busy and there’s no lineups. With limited places to go in Toronto for the best Trini roti (and I’ve tried a lot of them), I’m having second thoughts of coming back to Roti Hut and just suppressing my roti cravings until I find the next best place.
Wish this place could dine in, the decor had a nice modern by island feel to it. Food was still delicious when we got home. Oxtail was yum yum, chicken roti n chicken double was on point, stew chicken was a bit on the sweet side but my son killed it still. Definitely going bck to try the other stuff on the menu.
The beef roti we ordered was delicious. The portions are pretty generous, enough to share a meal. Can't wait to go back!
For the last 20+ years or so, Roti Hut was one of my favourite roti shops in Scarborough. Anytime I'd pass by, I'd buy a minimum of 2 or 3 wrapped rotis at a time.A few days ago, a few of my friends were in the area and craving roti so I naturally recommended Roti Hut. To my surprise, I later received a call telling me how upset they were with my recommendation due to the amount of filling they got.As a long time advocate of Roti Hut, I didn't want to believe it so I decided to drive out to Scarborough just to find out for myself. As part of my order, I bought a boneless goat, boneless chicken as well as pumpkin/spinach roti - each to be divided in half and observed. When I ate the boneless goat roti, I was disappointed because I didn't feel like I got enough filling. The filling to wrap ratio felt abnormal to what I was used to. However, playing devil's advocate, I didn't want to place judgement and left it up to chance.Later, when I cut into the boneless chicken roti, I was equally disappointed - mostly skin with very little filling. Completely upset, I decided to chalk it up to chance (once again) and keep it moving. Finally, when I got to my Pumpkin/Spinach roti and cut it in half, I lost my sh!t. It seemed almost as if toast would receive more butter. In width, it was barely the size of a toonie. Considering this was a veggie option that could be considered "less costly" than its meat counterparts, I felt nothing but cheated. I couldn't believe how little filling I got. In that very moment, I decided to post this review. 3x in a row was just too much. While I regret not taking pictures of the chicken and goat roti, I decided to take one of the Pumpkin/Spinach roti to prove I am not exaggerating. For reference, I've attached it to this review so you can see for yourself. In conclusion, I will admit that the roti's still tasted very good. However, based on this experience, I no longer see the value in choosing them over anywhere else if this has become the consistent experience for the price paid.It hurts me to say this but I doubt I'll ever go back here again ?.
I came there and ordered a boneless goat spicy. First it wasn't spicy at all then it lacked alot of flavor. I took 1 bite and found a long thin hair wrapped around the goat meat. Threw the whole thing out!!!!That was my 1st time there and trust me ill never go back again.
By far the best Trinidadian food in Scarborough. The flavor is very authentic and the staff always very and smiling. Love the food here. ?
