I have never had to write a bad review, so this is a first for me. 2 days ago, on august 3rd, I came into the restaurant to get some take out and had a problem with the server. Due to her inability to communicate properly and understand me and my gestures, my personal property was damaged.I was served my food that I was taking “to-go” in two cartons, of which I would later learn tragically. They were packed in a non see through big paper bag that was stapled (either way, sealed). I had a backpack, in which the food could not have been placed the same way it was put onto the table in front of me, so I asked the server if its okay to turn it sidesways - it was the only way to fit it. The server didn’t seem to really understand what i was asking, so i put my hands to work and gestured as well - my idea was to turn the food i was served sideways, to fit it in my backpack, as it was the only way. Upon gesturing and repeating the question 2-3 times, I was told it was fine and that I could flip them however i pleased. Satisfied with the answer, I proceeded to do just that.Upon arrival home, I realized something was very wrong. The sauce content of the box has seeped through the cracks of the boxes that were never meant to be carried any other way than upright and into the inside of my backpack and on everything it would come in contact with. It was a mess, my lunch was edible but everything was slimy and oily, it was an absolute mess to consume, however, as the containers for my food needed their own containers or plated to sit on not to make more mess. My backpack was completely ruined, i have since tried to wash and rinse it to my best ability but unfortunately the strains didn’t go away nor did the smell. I have pictures and receipt, which also was covered in the same sauce, by the way.Never had bad experiences from captains boil in general, but this was one messy experience, and it could have all been avoided if the person knew what I consider pretty basic communication skills, and even then, I also gestured, so im not really sure how that was not understood.
It was my first experience with hard-shelled seafood and the waiter made me feel comfortable! The captains sauce was delicious and the corn took in all that delicious flavor from the sauce, the entire experience was definitely worth it and would see me back again...plus the service was superb! I went there with my kids and everyone was happy with their meal.
Good taste. Good portion and fair price
The food was great but beware of you don't like spicy food because the fries and rice are spicy. Also if you can't handle spice then don't get the Captain Boil favor because it is spicy and I am not too bad with spicy food. Other than that prepare to spend at least $70-$80 per person. It's definitely great for a nice night out on occasion. Also if you can't eat a lot try just getting a smaller meal unless you want to share. Staff was very nice. Beware they do not accept reservations.
Had a mixed lb of class and shrimp. The seasoning was really good and buttery. Had a lot of empty shells with no meat, issue was resolved immediate and new clams were brought out. Staff and service was fast and friendly. A good experience. Mild was still spicy.
This is my second time visiting the captain's boil and I always enjoy their menu. It does have a variety of seafood offerings and their Sauces are to die for. I prefer my seafood with Sauces on the side and they accommodate the request. The service was on Pointe, going back once I go back to Toronto.
we eat here quite often, this location has a great set of people .The food quality is very great, fresh n has good portion, specially the Captain sauce is delicious . Server Jenna was very friendly and helpful. Thank you!
A super cool restaurant experience like nothing else I've had. A great tasting seafood Cajun experience where you eat with gloves and a bib. Not worth getting the lobster which is expensive because everything seems to taste very similar in the captain's boil sauce. I'd recommend getting the crawfish for a similar experience at a fraction of the price
atención excelente y la comida deliciosa
Captians Boil in Yonge St is a hidden gem with some of the most authentic food I've had in ages. The servings are huge, which means you'll be able to stuff your face without feeling guilty about it later - something I can always use up my extra energy from! Plus their service was fast and friendly; they even brought over bread for us when our appetites started calling after only half an hour or so of waiting time before eating began (which isn't at all unusual here).
