I was pleasantly surprised by how good this place was. After seeing over 2000+ reviews on Google, I was skeptical that it could be overhyped but it deserves the hype!First of this place has THE BEST GRAVY I’VE EVER TASTED. Period. I’ve had a bunch of gravy in my life but this was so flavourful and had a slight thickness to it which I loved. Some gravies are way too runny and the rice soaks it all up. Next, the chicken was good, but once you got to the actual meat, it tasted pretty plain (good thing I had gravy!)As for the festivals, I was also pleasantly surprised, they were a unique shape that I haven’t seen before but they were so buttery and warm. And paired with the gravy?! OMG I would go back just for the festivals. They’re that good, just make sure you eat them when they’re fresh.Realistically I’d like to give this place a 5 star rating but I had to knock points of for the chicken. A bit more flavour on there and it’s a 5 for me.
Best Jamaican restaurant in the city! The rice and peas has so much flavour. I've brought family straight from J.a to this restaurant, all of them has said this is the best jamaican food they have ever had. You can tell the chef cooks with alot of love and passion.
Best Caribbean food in town that beef jerky is too good with Authentic Jamaican spice.
Wanted to use them as a caterer for an event this summer and ordered some items to try, they were fantastic and large portions! We were excited to order from them for the party! Went back to order again since I liked the chana and vegetables but the portion was so much smaller now that they didn't know it was me who was planning to cater from them (food was still great though). My main issue was the communication. We called and emailed saying we'd like to order the chana vegetables, jerk chicken, cod fritters and beef patties for our party. After a lot of pestering for 2 weeks we finally got a response that they would not serve the appetizers or the chana vegetables and it would be 2 proteins and rice and beans for each person, which we did not ask for. They actually told us to look for the vegetarian meal elsewhere. So yes, we will go look for a vegetarian meal, and all of our other meals from someone else. I'm sure if you stopped by for dinner its a lovely choice, but consider another caterer to work with.
This is a neighbourhood joint for us and we like it. It's very casual. The staff are nice and the oxtail is slammin'. I haven't eaten any other dish here because... the oxtail!
Jan 2022: Came back for a take out during lockdown and I am glad that they are keeping up with the high consistent quality. Still is my favorite jerk chicken joint in Toronto.-----------------------------------Aug 2021: Hands down for the best jerk chicken and oxtail. I'm not sure what they do to their rice but it is absolutely addicting.Make sure to spice up your dishes with their home made hot sauce, if you dare.
Great value in the neighborhood. I ordered what everyone else suggested and ended up with a lot of fried food (my bad). Chicken and roti were very good and Johnny cakes. I didn’t like the fried plantain, a bit too oily. Will try again!
Absolutely wonderful meal, and very friendly staff. Placed a takeout order that was ready very quickly. If you're looking for Caribbean anywhere near the Danforth, Simone's is the spot you want.
I visit this lovely place quite often! This is the best place to to have a good dinner. I visit this spot frequently. The food is just great, the crew is welcoming and the rates are decent. I enjoy meeting in this spot for a decent dinner.
That curry goat is worth the drive from 905. The fritters, (both codfish and banana) and the soup, (chicken and pumpkin) wakes up my bones every time. The wait can be long, but the food is stellar.
