I came to Roy Woods last Friday. I ordered a small chicken soup. It was my first time trying soup here. I have to say, it was terrible. I am not one to complain but it had no taste, it looked unattractive and the smell was not appealing. After observing the ingredients, I noticed celery, green banana and pasta. Personally, I do not feel that this is a good combination, as a traditional Jamaican chicken soup is not made that way. As a valued customer, I think the ingredients for your chicken soup should be reevaluated and making it the traditional Jamaican way would be a better option.

As taste is subjective I will only say that I’ve tried nearly everything on their menu multiple times each and everything is consistently great. Their plantains are the best in the city, they caramelize them nicely whereas some places they are more tough. I find the portions to be very fair and they pack the food in to maximize amount of food.Where I will disagree with others is the customer service. I take exception to the staff being called unprofessional and rude as I have found them to be super friendly to not only myself but the other patrons as well, no matter their race. One time the place was really busy with Uber orders and food was taking longer than usual and me and another customer were offered free Jamaican patties. I actually think they have some of the better customer service in Toronto, something I’ve noticed has dramatically gone downhill especially since the pandemic.

Always a fan to try anything black owned.Ordered the jerk shrimp and jerk pork sandwich. Forgot to take a photo of the sandwich none the less.Shrimp were a good size, good flavour. Also not used to having pineapple with jerk or rice and peas, it fits well so I enjoy it. Jerk pork was good but felt a little dry for my liking. My sides were coleslaw, not wasn't too exciting. The best coleslaw Ive had was from Shandra roti shop

Most people go there for Jerk Chicken, but I tried several other dishes and liked all of them.Great quantity and service. I do have sometimes difficulty hearing them because of playing music too loud.

Food is edible but the service is the ABSOLUTE WORST!Last time they “forgot” the sides despite me reminding them they said it’s there and it wasn’t.This time we ordered food and they told us there are no sides, no brown rice (so they gave us steamed white rice) and tiny portions. They had no food to compensate us with and gave us no discount for the lack of portions offered. If your menu says something and you don’t have it- have the courtesy to be respectful to the customer or atleast be a little humble! If you have no food replacements then either close your store or offer discounts for the leftovers you’re offering people. This is basic business sense but I doubt anyone here got an education in business or customer service.

This is our closest pick up place for Jamaican/Carribean food. Strictly take out. Meals are prepped constantly and put out front into the serving trays. Good sized portions. Best quality packaging in town - rigid plastic tops with a really tight seal and a thick paper bag to insulate during transport. We kept the packages for leftover storage. We had a side of the Plantains - cooked perfectly, a serving of the jerk chicken and the oxtail stew with a side of rice. one each of a spicy and mild patty. I don't mind the heat so all the dishes were great. The hot patty is exactly that - hot. My wife struggled with the jerk chicken (hot) but was ok with the oxtail stew. Oxtail was not too spicy, with a rich and thick jus - stewed to soft & "pull off the bone" perfection. Plenty for leftovers the next day. This is not a place for a timid palate.

Square One location: Tried for the first time, absolutely delicious, service was friendly and super professional- top notch! We will be back often!

The food here is so blessed. The jerk and bbq chicken are my favourite and well seasoned. My favourite is a large jerk or bbq with oxtail gravy and I’ve never been disappointed after years of coming here. If you haven’t been here your sleeping, highly recommended ??

I'm a regular here, order take out almost every other day from this location. Love the food, never disappoints. You can count on the food being fresh, decently priced and authentic. They have decent hours, I love that they are open late and generally have most things available. I will say, inside the restaurant there isn't much seating options and some of the staff don't seem too thrilled to be there.Highly recommend for take-out.

Went yesterday since it was close. The food definitely lacked flavor. The plate didn't look that appeasing we were just very hungry. My boyfriend and I were highly disappointed even more after tasting it because we felt it wasn't worth the money and we could've just shared a plate since it wasn't that tasty and we both didn't eat out meals. The jerk sauce consistency is also very watery opposed to being thicker and sauce-like. Rice texture was okay just didn't taste like anything. The chicken looked dry but the inside was moist. And the beef patty was icky with barely any meat. Overall, we didn't like unfortunately.
