TL:DR- Excellent quality sushi at a great price, makes the omakase experience much more accessible in both price and time commitment- Great dine-in experience with superb service and a very nice looking interior- Consistency consistency consistencyFull review:My wife and I have recently discovered Project:Fish and we've been so happy with it! In spite of the wide array of high quality sushi options available in the GTA, we found ourselves struggling to find a go-to sushi spot that struck a good balance between quality, price and consistency. We'd eaten at plenty of sushi places that maybe hit some of these, but never all three of these points. That is until we ate at Project:Fish! If you're looking for an affordable way to try out some of their excellent sushi, I'd recommend going at lunch to start. The sushi lunch set also offers an excellent value for the money offering 3 different starts in good portions (Edamame, miso soup and salad) PLUS all varieties of sushi including 5 pcs nigiri sushi, 2 pcs Oshi sushis and 2 pcs sashimi. All of that for under $20. At most high end sushi places I find myself hungry with their base lunch sets, but did not have that problem here.Enjoy your first lunch there? Then step your way up to dinner. The Omakase plate offers an excellent value for money, with 12 pieces of high quality nigiri. You effectively get the variety of an omakase set at a much more affordable price, and without having to commit 3 hours to the experience.Speaking about the food itself, every piece of fish exudes quality. Pieces are quite generous with some fun and unique garnishes that tell you that each piece is an absolute labor of love. I've been particularly happy with their sushi rice. You really get to taste each grain, with the perfect amount of moisture, texture and flavor. The actual dine in experience itself is also excellent. The staff are all very warm and friendly. The chef's themselves greet you at the door, and with the open air design, you get a great opportunity to witness their craft. You can tell that this team is passionate about what they do. The decor is a great mix of industrial minimalism that also incorporates some really comforting natural tones. And of course, there are some great accent pieces that will look great on the gram (if that's a pre-requesite for you haha).Overall, I can't say enough great things about Project:Fish. This is the first sushi spot that my wife and I have been to that offers not only good value, but also consistent quality and a great dine-in experience. Needless to say we'll be back for more!
Amazing sushi and service. Their interior is really nice and all the staff are attentive and welcoming. We got the omakase sushi plate, tuna tacos and neo roll and it was the perfect amount of food for two people :) will be back!
Amazing sushi restaurant. This is the best sushi restaurant in Toronto by far.The servers are very kind and friendly.I was just taken back by the quality and the taste of the food.I thoroughly enjoyed dining here from start to finish and would dine again.Highly recommend the chirashi tart!
This is what you expect from an nonchalant fairly priced no frill omakase experience.Good ingredients but sometimes overwhelming flavours.Overall good. would rather do takeouts than fine in.
This place is a small gem! I’ve ordered takeout a few times from this restaurant and I’ve also dined in at their outdoor patio and I’ve always enjoyed their food. Both takeout and dine in look so good presentation-wise, and they’re all really delicious too! My favourite is the sashimi salad, I’m salivating just thinking about it. I live super close and I would even order it for pickup for lunch since I wfh. I highly recommend this restaurant, the food and the service are both fantastic!
The 35$ pf sushi set is amazing. Perfectly aged, delicious fish and the texture of the rice was perfect. The toppings are unique and compliment the sushi wonderfully. I really enjoyed the black truffle on the torched hotate. Great value, great taste, would definitely come back.
I would give 0 stars if I could, not for the quality of food but how deceiving they are of their customers.I placed an order via Uber Eats for a small platter. To put it short, the composition of sushi I received was not what was indicated in the menu description.1. I received the 'TUNA MAYO' roll pieces instead of the 'crab meat roll' indicated. This tuna mayo was NOT a raw tuna sushi, but a canned tuna mixed with mayo, as we would find in our sandwiches (attached photo). At first I was at disbelief because I read so many of their reviews and appreciated all the positive feedbacks they had from clients.2. Instead of three different kinds of OSHI (salmon, saba, shrimp), I received 6 shrimp oshi, with each three covered with two different types of sauces/toppings (attached photo). So in total, I received 8 shrimp sushi in my platter. What mattered most to me was that there were no explanations provided by the owner for the reason why such change was made. If they had run out, if this is how they serve for the time being, I'd have understood and accepted as is (my opinion on the quality of sushi set aside). But such absence made me suspect if the owner thought that the customer would be ignorant enough not to know the sushi being served. It doesn't matter to me anymore how great of sushi they serve as such experience left only the negative impression with me.
Update: came back and it was still great quality and they were super attentive.Really yummy food with a variety of interesting options. Rating was reduced to 4 stars as fish portions got smaller within the past year (and no more smoke machine)
Amazing experience. Some may say place is pricey, but quality of food & service is worth each $.Had great time with my family, tasted most delicious sushi in Toronto and enjoyed friendly atmosphere.Highly recommend!
We got takeout for NYE as Omicron cancelled all our plans. They were about 15 min late on the pickup order. Very little parking around this location. I ordered the holiday box for 4. Packaged very neatly in a box with carry handle. Nice staff manning the takeout. Food was fresh and very tasty. Nice presentations. I will definitely try again.
