The food tastes delicious I ordered the Basil & Chili Lamb and Burmese fried rice. I love the lamb, it doesn't smell anything, the meat is so tender and juicy and tastes so good, spicy, salty, and a bit sweet. The fried rice, for me, tastes a bit bland but when you eat it together with the lamb it makes a perfect combination. The service and ambiance are also very good. The server knows about the food very well and can give you a recommendation when you don’t know what to order.
We came here for Summerlicious. The food we got was all delicious. They also have an extensive assortment of teas available. The only issue was that the rice that came with the lamb curry was cold but the staff quickly replaced it for us. The various dishes were well seasoned and flavourful. I would be interested in coming back to try their regular menu.
It was our first time visiting Burmese restaurant. Great service and delicious food. They have variety of tea selections and great presentation. Had garlic noodles with chicken and it came with really big portion. The unicorn tea was pretty surprising and fun to enjoy.
This was my first time trying Burmese cuisine and Popa did not disappoint! We tried the tea leaf salad, vegetarian khowsuey, Rangoon chicken curry and Burmese fried rice - all of them were really different tasting but equally flavourful. My favourites were the tea leaf salad and the Rangoon chicken curry. Even the white coconut rice was perfectly cooked and fluffy. The service was also really friendly and attentive - our server was really helpful and patient with explaining the menu and making recommendations. The ambience and decor were also really nice - it's a good place to sit down and eat or to take guests while still casual. Will definitely come back!
My family and I enjoyed our lunch at PŌPA today. We ordered a variety of dishes that came highly recommended by our waiter. The dishes that we enjoyed the most were the Sexy Fish Croquette, Platha with Chicken Coconut Curry Sauce and Rangoon Chicken Curry. The platha is extremely flaky and dare I say one of the best rotis that I have had in the GTA. The khowsuey is very different from what can be found at places such as Sukhothai or Pai. Although it tastes good and is plated nicely, it lacks the complex flavours captured by the spots mentioned above. Also, it would be nice if the restaurant offered creative non-alcoholic beverages especially since halal meats are served. Overall, this was a great lunch consisting of well plated dishes that have very unique flavour profiles. We would definitely try Burmese food again.
This place is decorated well with excellent food and service. We order Shan chickpea tofu for appetizer, steak kebat and curry lamb. If you like spicy, definitely try the steak kebat. The amount of heat and spice make the beef so tasty. The waitress are so nice and professional. Not only she recommended good dishes and the level of service is like being at a high class restaurant. Definitely worth to come visit
There aren't a lot of opportunities to try Burmese food, and I certainly enjoyed getting to come here to try it out! The space is beautiful and my overall experience was good, but felt lacking in small aspects of the food as well as the service (which was overall a little absent during our visit despite it being relatively quiet).I ordered the Salt and Pepper Calamari, Vegetable Khowsuey, and Chai Tea Cheesecake. The calamari was fried well and maintained a light battered crispness without being overcooked or rubbery. The khowsuey was flavourful, well presented, and generously portioned; however I do wish that there was an opportunity to know (either on the menu or from our waiter) what each individual side bowl was. Although my friend and I deduced most of them, (chili flakes, lime and cilantro, peanuts, fried garlic, fried onion) it would have been nice to know upfront rather than have to guess.Lastly, the cheesecake was good, but quite light on the chai tea taste and simplistic overall. If anything, I was additionally disappointed because I was hoping to try the chocolate samosa (or any other dessert really), but this was the only one available.I'm hoping my experience was a bit of an outlier and would like to come back to give this place another chance!
I’ve never been to Mayanmar and this is one l the first Burmese restaurant I’ve been to so I have nothing to compare the food to. However, the dishes were yummy and there were some unique flavours in some dishes (even though Burmese food takes its influence from all the neighbouring countries; Bangladesh, China (Yunnan), Laos, and Thailand). One star off for the price but honestly, if you’re in that mall you should be expecting those prices.
Excellent food and service! We ordered half the menu and every dish that we ordered was fabulous. Unique cuisine and loved the experience. The staff went out of their way to it an memorable night for us.
Great service and delicious food. Beautiful presentation. Garlic noodles with chicken just the right amount of sweet heat! The jasmine rice was so fragrant and fluffy. Will definitely be back!
