Amazing place for vegan Japanese cuisine.Great staff and incredibly good food.It was my first time with Japanese cuisine and plants did not disappoint me.Their bang bang broccoli and pad Thai slaw are to die for. Liked their rainbow and torched n pressed sushi as well.
Planta Queen !! This particular location needs to step up the game !! Doesn’t match the $$$ fine dine experience. No doubt about the food quality, it’s rich and delicious. Bang bang broccoli was the show stellar?.We also got sushi, dumplings, noodles, and pineapple fried rice. Dumplings and pineapple fried rice have mediocre preparation but full marks for presentation though !!The menu is limited at this location (hardly 1 page). The service is below average due to understaffing. The ambiance and music selection are dull which ruins the dine-in experience. Will try this location one more time for sure ?
The service was great and our server was excellent, even though she was new. The appetizers were all superb and very tasty, however I felt the noodle dishes were all very similar in taste. I would order lots of delicious appetizers and not order the noodle dishes. They also have half price wine on Wednesdays. Definitely recommend. Don’t forget to follow me.
I would highly recommend Planta!! I was a little bit skeptical since I have not found a vegan resteraunt that actually had good tasting and textured food. I was shocked to say the least. Between my wife and I we shared a few appetizers and two mains plus a desert. WOW WOW. This place is a culinary masterpiece! I really hope you choose to try Planta!!
Gave it a try having never tried vegan food. Not my taste, but can definitely see the appeal as a vegan option. Presentation of food was nice. Very creative substitutions for meats that were visually and textually similar to the real thing. The atmosphere was a highlight.Unfortunately we had ordered cocktails which the server forgot, however they took them off the bill once they did come. Very generous. Would recommend to those looking for vegan options in the city.
Came down from Barrie for lunch and it was totally worth the drive. Everything was amazing, great atmosphere and service. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
We visited PLANTA for dinner on a Saturday evening after hearing about it for a long time. We made reservations and the place was modestly busy, with more people coming in as the night went on. The staff was very friendly and helpful in every interaction we had. The entire menu is vegan and there was a lot to choose from. Everything is designed to be shareable, so we ordered things from every section. Our waitress was very helpful in letting us know about portion sizes and how much to order for the two of us. For drinks, we had the matcha mojito and cucumber mule mocktails. They were tasty but way too overpriced for what they were and not worth it in my opinion. For food, we ordered the ahi watermelon nigiri and the spicy tuna rolls from the sushi menu. We ordered cauliflower tots and two bao sliders from the small plates menu and potato truffles from the dumplings menu. From the wok & noodles menu, we ordered the udon noodles. Pretty much everything was great and worth getting but I really enjoyed the noodles. If I came back, I would love to try some of the other items in the wok & noodles section. Overall, we had a good time.
We’ve been here and their Yorkville location multiple times and they never disappoint. Great vibe , ambiance and innovative vegan foods! ?? The best classy , fine dining vegan restaurant we’ve been so far! Oh! I almost forgot, Friendly staff too! ?
Ambiance and decor was great, the staff was amazing; that on its own was a 5-star experience, and the only reason why I’m giving as high as a 2 star for this review. The food is not great. I really appreciate that there’s a place where everything is vegan and you don’t have to worry about accidentally ordering meat - that being said, flavours don’t really mesh well, and the Asian inspiration for some for the dishes is apparent but does not deliver as well as it should. It was quite greasy and consisted of a lot of deep fried dishes - definitely not as healthy as you would think. Some dishes were also either too salty or too bland. I’d come back for the ambiance and for the staff, but if you have other options, perhaps not the food.
Avocado sushi (torched and pressed sushi) (9/10), steamed dumplings (Friday special) (3/10), Singapore noodles (4/10), Japanese sweet potato (9/10).Wildly disappointed by the steamed dumplings and Singapore noodles. Steamed dumplings were bland, almost sandy in texture. Singapore noodles deceptively seasoned, will surprise you with an overabundance of soy sauce in each mouthful. Avocado sushi was surprising for such a simplistic combination. Serves as a great appetizer. Japanese sweet potato combined sweet, savory and sour elements perfectly in a delicately charred texture that leaves you craving more.Disclaimer: I am but a lowly food inexpert with an unrefined peasant's palette. Take with grain of saltRestaurant ambience was great, servers were attentive.
