Get the signature Red Curry! It’s the best curry I’ve had in Toronto hands down. We got it with shrimp but you can do chicken, vegetable, or a combination of those. It is beautiful presentation and you’ll want to drink the sauce. The owner, Allan, gives out stellar recommendations for the menu and is extremely friendly. He is a shining star and I’ll absolutely be returning for more of his wonderful food and conversation. 10/10.
Unassuming little restaurant in forever changing neighbourhood offers a world class Thai food ,bursting with flavours. A "love at first bite"
Incredible restaurant that has been around for 15 years - it’s the spot to be at especially if you like local eats with a mixture of great service, welcoming energy and gorgeous interior. Everything about it made it a highlight for my weekend. If you like Thai food, you’ll fall in love with the amazing plate presentations and flavourful bites all throughout the menu from appetizers, main course and dessert. Definitely highly recommend this spot for date nights and special occasions. The location makes it feel cozy but this charming venue, with its knack of gathering celebrities, has a lot to offer. The staff, music, and food really made me value the divine experience of going out again - a must try.
My wife and I had a terrific experience here- the place was full of regulars who came back often, and we found out why. The range of foods was excellent, and our dinner was completely enjoyable. The owner, Allan, and his wife, the renowned chef, were so friendly and gracious too. Bravo
We've been coming here for about a decade now. My absolute favourite Thai restaurant in Toronto for the curries. Their Red Curry with lichee & Braised lamb with peaches are incredible.I also love the story of this place, the chef and the owner are really kind and makes the food and experience top notch.
This was our first visit ever to Mengrai Gourmet Thai and the restaurant has a very Chinatown, NYC feel! The restaurant is owned and operated by a married couple; Alan is Malaysian and his wife is Thai and both cultures come together with a fantastic menu. We started with the Tom Yum Soup and ordered it spiced hot, they asked if we were sure we wanted it spiced hot and we said yes, we can handle the heat. The soup was delicious! We then ordered three entrees to share: Chicken with Noodles, Chinese Broccoli with Mushrooms and Bok Choy Mixed Vegetables. We ordered each spiced hot and while not as spicy as the soup they were all very tasty and filling! Following dinner Alan offered us Lemongrass tea and a single sized Vegan Cheesecake w/Cocunut! Alan and his wife treated us like royalty and we will be back for sure!
This place is amazing! It has a great atmosphere with amazing service and the food is to die for! I will definitely return when I come back to Toronto!
we went there 2 days ago. while we waited for our food the owner came to chat with us. lovely service. food was fantastic and we got a little extra treat as dessert. unfortunately I don't live in Toronto otherwise I'd go there all the time.
I’ve been to this place a few times over the past decade and it’s been consistently delicious. We got the vegetarian set menu which was nice so we could try a bunch of different things. Our absolute favourite was the red curry (the menu says it has chicken but you can ask for them to make it vegetarian if you prefer)- and the pumpkin soup is so good, a definite must try.
I have been to this amazing restaurants several times and not only the foods were delicious but the owners are so warm and welcoming. I will definitely come back again and again.
