I love that this is the place you can go and enjoy and but be pushed out the door!Love the coffee and the African south American blend they read happening. What made the menu work was it was manageable .Totally enjoyed the experience. We were on the patio, and had the bonus of people watching!
I go to Manita pretty frequently as their burger is probably the best in the city and the quality of their food is very good, just a little expensive. The three star review is because a common theme to all my visits is they just aren’t nice.I always come here expecting to be treated poorly and have bad service, which isn’t how a restaurant experience should be.We recently learned they were now taking reservations so we called to make one and we’re told bluntly they do not take them before 5pm it’s all walk in. We walked in on the weekend at 2.40pm waited at the door for 10 minutes were seen another not approached- when we approached the gentleman held out his hand and said I’ll come to you when I’m ready. When he finally came he told us their brunch menu ends at 3 and they only serve snacks until 6pm.When we asked to be seated before 3pm he really took his time and did not take kindly to seating us.Then didn’t bring the menus until 2.58- knowing we were trying to order off the brunch menu.It might have been nice to have been told on the phone they stop their menu at 3.The service every time we come here to be seated or even have a meal is like pulling teeth. It’s so disappointing since their food is so good.Judging by the other reviews it seems the service issue is not unique to my dining experience.
Had such a wonderful dinner experience here. Service is lovely (they gave us a free sourdough loaf on the way out)! Food is delicious as well. The brussels sprouts were packed with flavour, lamb and polenta was tender and delightful, and the ricotta cavatelli was a simple dish executed perfectly. The last thing I’ll say is you MUST try their carrot cake!
I passed by this place last time I was on Ossington and had to note it down!! So happy I was able to convince my friends to come here for dinner and I was blown away! We got a cheese plate to share, I loved the riopelle and the bread was so delicious! My partner ordered a glass of orange, we wanted to buy a bottle at the end of the meal but they were on their last bottle :( I got the ricotta cavatelli, it was so filling and came with pickled chilies that I just put it on top. The broccolini was super yummy in the dish and everything was perfectly seasoned. My partner got the fried Brussels sprouts and the lamb meatballs. The meatballs, although a small dish, were SO delicious. Definitely worth every penny. The Brussels sprouts as well, it was topped with cheese and it was crispy and yummy - one of my fav dishes of the night. The ambience was so romantic and intimate, definitely a great date spot! The service was also amazing and attentive, we had a great night here. I am definitely coming back again soon!
This was such a disappointing experience. Food was definitely good quality, however the service and servers made our time at Manita truly negative. When we entered , we were not greeted, despite there being NO ONE else in the restaurant. When we were eventually met , the server acted as though we had somehow interrupted their social time, and spoke to us without a smile or any words other than "you can sit here".Our table was next to the coffee bar, and the servers were talking and swearing loudly right next to us for a majority of the meal. It was -5, windy, and snowing, and they kept the door next to us open for about 10-15 minutes. I've never written a negative review before, but had such a disheartening experience that I really felt I had to share. I would never return, and will suggest my friends avoid this spot. I hope this was just an off-day. I would have loved to find a great new brunch spot. Again, food was great!P.S. it was $5.00 to add a single egg to my toast. It's cheaper to buy a dozen eggs at the grocery store, than a single egg at Manita.
Great little spot! Have a come here a few times and have always had a lovely experience.
Place is very cozy and has outdoor seating too. Food is delicious and portions are huge! Nice cocktails options too! And they know how to do an espresso! Service is great too!

This is the best place I’ve been in the city for quite a while. The food is unreal! Simple and so well executed. Layers of flavours perfectly put together and the staff are lovely and kind. We sat on the patio with our dog (which the staff were so sweet to) it rained as we dined and for a moment I forgot I was in Toronto. It was the first thing I thought of this morning when I woke up. I can’t wait to go back!
I've been here a couple times for takeout and they make one of the best Americanos I've found in the area. I really enjoy their ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a sesame bun too. Finally got to sit in for brunch on their patio last weekend - the shakshuka was so flavourful and great! The service was also really inviting, kind, attentive and quick. I got a nice neighbourhood feel from the place and it seems really personable, like they have a lot of repeat customers that the staff know well. I'll definitely be back!
