Indescribable feelings have been rare for me these days, but will always remember the feeling of falling in love, being newly wed and of course a victory in a big game. Somehow, getting lox and so much more from Lox + Schmear has created a similar feeling which has continued for the years I have frequented this gem.Lev is a magician. And the fish is smoking right before your eyes too which I never have seen anywhere, especially not in the bagel store (or Costco) freezer where rookies continue to get their lox from.My favourites are the smoked trout salad, the vacuum packed smoked trout, obviously the lox in all forms too, the fancy bagel sandwich (**sandwiches available only Fridays 9am- end of business Sunday). Takeout only. Worth it worth it worth it.Pretty excited to try their new snack mix. Yes, clearly food has taken a central role in my life these days, but at least I have great taste. And if you don’t believe me, go see for yourself!!
Lox + Schmear is my go to place for smoked fish, bagels, and sides. The sandwiches and items are seriously good and a must try. I can't really pin point a favourite because all of it is good but if you try a sandwich, the Lev is AMAZING. I look forward to my lunches now and this was tough because I can't have dairy or gluten. There are amazing options here for that and also, Lev and the Lox + Schmear team are just awesome people!
Delicious and most importantly - not salty af! ♡ Perfectly balanced flavors. I love the Lev's bagel with its pickled jalapenos and dill pickle potato chips.The Fancy Fancy bagel sat out for an hour or so and got soaked because of either the watery tomatoes and/or the cucumbers. Eat it right away is the moral of the story there.
Picked up some bagels, cream cheese, lox and pickled veggies. Everything was so fresh and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend! Now my #1 spot for bagels + lox. The owner was so friendly too.
If you have not enjoyed the amazing food from Lox + Schmear then you are absolutely missing out. We have catered a few events with them and pre-covid enjoyed a few of their sandwiches and you will always leave happy and full! Every item from the lox, the tuna (best in the city hands down), smoked trout salad are masterfully crafted and incredibly delicious. To top it all off, Lev is a wonderful person that makes you want to support the business even more. Eat here, then eat here again, and then tell everyone you know to eat here.
Lox + Schmear has been a constant for me for the last 3 years and will be for so many more to come. Never had anything here that tastes less than amazing and Lev is a wonderful human being. Their prices are more than fair and they are truly a Toronto gem.
The smoked salmon here is so good! Really tasty and great texture - not slimy at all like some smoked salmon can be. Also the smoked trout salad is amazing - on a bagel, on crackers, or just on its own. We ordered for the first time the other day and I'll definitely be back.
Lox + Schmear is a Sunday staple in my house. Everything is divine -- and I mean *everything.* There is not a single item on the menu with which you can go wrong, but my personal favourites are the tuna salad, chopped egg salad, and lemon + pepper lox.Lev has built a truly incredible business, and I cannot recommend it enough!
Your life won’t be complete without Lox and Schmear. I am never without several packs of their smoked salmon, smoked trout, and pickled onions and capers. Their smoked trout salad is my favourite afternoon snack, and their freshly baked babkas are mind blowing.It’s obvious how much love and care goes into their food. Lox and Schmear will allow you to step up your brunch game, and will bring so much joy into your life.Also, Lev is a wonderful human. So it’s a win win!
This is seriously the best salmon I have ever had!!!! (Don't tell my grandmother). It's tastes unbelievably fresh and you can tell that it's prepared with such care and attention to detail. If I could I would eat it every day.Even though the lox is clearly the star of the show let's not forget to appreciate the scallion cream cheese!! Without it my life would be significantly worse.Here's my personal advice on how best to enjoy this place: Order for Sunday pick up, get a pack of bagels of your choice (they're all good), a pack of the original house smoked lox, some scallion cream cheese, and a can of cold brew or a pack of coffee beans. Just like that you have the perfect mid-Sunday feast. If you're feeling spicy get the pickled jalapenos as well they're really good! I don't think you could actually go wrong with any item on the menu.
