3.5/5The food is honestly not bad but just really really really expensive for what it is (nearly 300 before tax and tip), especially for the simple ingredients and the lack of complexity and details. The tenderloin (which has been pre-processed pretty well) with foie gras was $95 with absolutely not a single bite of side at all.
Amazing food, great service, and overall great experience at this restaurant! Definitely on the pricier end, but worth going once in a while for the experience! Including pictures of my favourite dishes, including the seafood tower (the scallops were amazing), the seabass (the way it's cooked and presented is a sight to see), the mushroom (never knew mushrooms could taste this good), and the brioche buns (just melts in your mouth with the butter). ??
One of the best experiences I have ever had! Food was to die for! Lexi and the staff had made this night extremely memorable, even when I was almost an hour late! Great service, food is one of the best by far! Thank you so much Le Banane for this wonderful experience, will definitely be back!
Oh my word! This place was wonderful. The food was absolutely gorgeous and the service was second to none! Outstanding!
Disappointing food - bland, nothing special especially for the price. Portions were tiny. Server not helpful. It seems the restaurant may have been affected by change in chefs as the food does not reflect all the restaurants previous accolades.
Having been lucky enough to travel to some of the worlds best restaurants, I could save the airfare and just come back to La Banane Service was great and very engaging with the chefs presenting the food. Execution was flawless, we ate family style and asked the chefs to “feed us” and did they, the euro bass en croute fish and rib steak were perfectly cooked, but every course was excellent, done miss the mushrooms nor scallops. It was hard but we managed to fit in the banana cake and it was well worth the discomfort. We felt like it was a celebration which I guess it was but it was a celebration of food and service!!! Well done team and look forward to my return. Michelin stars are calling!!!!
Very loud environment that you need to shout to each other to hear properly. Service is slow and the food has …. Interesting taste. $160 spent for the meal and only the mushroom was acceptable. We checked the menu and sadly we aren’t big fans of most dishes so we don’t have much options to order and the waitress said “you are not hungry? You should order two of those or you won’t have enough” yeah gladly we did not order two of the same dish and got that burnt cabbage instead, which we did not like either but at least we expanded our list of dishes we won’t like.
This restaurant is fantastic. The place looks fabulous, the service is great, the food is delicious. Seriously one of the best dining experience I've ever had. Some reviews said it was expensive but the quality of the dishes I ordered match the price I paid and I can't recommend this place enough.
Excellent food and service! Will definitely recommend! This is a lively French bistro that did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated by friendly staff who were very knowledgeable of the food and wines. We asked our server (sadly I forget her name as she deserves being mentioned) for her top recommendations. Everything she suggested we ordered and each dish was exceptional! We started with the raw scallops and oysters. Being from Vancouver where seafood is fresh and bountiful, I tend to avoid ordering raw seafood when I’m in big cities far from the oceans. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how absolutely delicious these appetizers were! They were presented beautifully and were melt in our mouths delicious! We wanted more! For our mains, we both ordered the grilled trout and we shared sides of the braised cabbage and green salad. The trout was grilled to perfection and the sides, although simple, paired very well with the trout. Not a morsel was left on our plates! I’d also like to commend the service of the sommelier, Sylvain. What an exceptional sommelier full of character, a wonderful disposition and an expert at his job! Sylvain (and our female server) definitely are assets to La Banane and they enhanced our overall guest and dining experience. Sylvain recommends a Sancerre wine which was superb and paired perfectly with our meals. I would definitely recommend La Banane and hope to return there the next time I’m in Toronto. Bravo to the chef and whole team at La Banane! You’ve done it right!
I asked my coworkers what restaurants they went to in the city and one of them came back with La Banane. I thought the name was cute, so I made a reservation. Start to finish, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. It’s a little expensive, but the portions and the quality back it up. The bartender was super cool and kind and helped me pick out some choices from the menu (definitely get something from the raw bar when you’re there, the scallops were amazing). If you ever want to treat yourself or your partner or have a special occasion, this place would be #1 on my list.
