Kanto is an eatery located in the Junction (about a 5 min walk from Dundas/Keele) that specializes in Filipino street eats. The small eatery is available on a variety of delivery and take out apps as well as open for dine in. The restaurant is small where most of the seating is family style where there are communal tables. On Sundays, they have a special Sunday Fiesta Brunch where you can enjoy an all you can eat experience for $25 (with tax).My partner and I dined at Kanto for their Sunday Fiesta Brunch recently. Although it was somewhat confusing when we entered the restaurant, after we were seated, everything went smoothly. We also purchased a pitcher of the calamansi iced tea as recommended by the staff (which was delicious!). In terms of the all you can eat, it is a buffet style where you go up to their stations to serve yourself. You also pick up your own plates, utensils, and cups and place your used places in a bin/on the table.Food wise, there was a wide variety of Filipino foods (some that i have never tried before!), including lechon, dinuguan, palabok, chicken joyce (fried chicken), lumpia, sisig, etc. as well as made to order ube pancakes. Overall, there was a nice selection of foods to try - a lot of it is quite heavy so the calamansi iced tea helped.Overall, great experience, delicious food, and friendly staff. Would return for more!
The food was delicious and a great amount of food! We got the platter and everything tasted great but there was a lot of pork belly. It was too rich of a dish to have that much on the platter. Not enough beef in comparison. The big downside for us was that I ordered in advance for a specific time and date because it was for a birthday. I arrived on time and had to wait 20 minutes for my food. I was very disappointed.
Just went to the ayce brunch for filipino restaurant month with family, the food was tasty but was so disappointed when the fried chicken had hair cooked in it and what I think was menudo had a blue elastic rubber band. It totally put me off and I lost my appetite as now it made me wonder what the cleanliness and hygiene standards are in the back. The service staff were apologetic but didn't do anything in terms of compensation for the poor hygienic conditions I experienced. I really wanted to love this place and come back with more family, every dish was delicious up until that point but after this experience I don't think I would. Just beware when eating here to ensure what you're eating is actually food and not additional "uninvited seasonings"
I had a wonderful time yesterday at Kanto by Tita Flips! It was an honour to meet the owner herself, Tita Flips!!! They are so friendly, very accommodating, and the food was amazing!!! Thank you Riza, who took care of us. And of course Tita Flips, who came to see us before she prepared our 3 course meal. Highly recommended for those of you foodie peeps out there! Experience their delicious meals and the traditional Filipino hospitality first hand. I will definitely come back for more!!!
Ordered the Chicken Inasai but they gave me the Chicken Adobo instead. The portions were small and the whole thing including the salad just tasted aweful. Never buying from here again.
I ordered the original kamayan. I loved the beef bistek and lumpia, but the chicken adobo was kind of dry and the dish was missing zucchini, bok choy, tomatoes, onions and cucumbers.
We ordered takeout and were told it’d be ready for pickup in an hour. That seemed long since we were hungry but we were okay as long as the food was ready.Pickup time was over 30 minutes ago and we are still waiting. Other customers who are waiting line also seemed annoyed and one person claimed they had been there for over an hour. Another person put in an order a few days ago.Whatever time they say they’ll be ready, add another hour. It’s okay to be busy and decline orders, but don’t mislead people and make them wait for unreasonable amounts of time. The food is pretty pricy for this kind of service.Edit: it’s been 45 minutes and still no food on sight
Listen, if you want a giant platter of food for a handful of people, just order here. The rice and leftovers were badass the next day, and there was enough food for everyone. The sauces are incredible, the beef tender, and the pork belly super crispy. The presentation as take out is top end, plentiful, and conscious of your own utensils. We're going to order again this coming weekend while my folks are in town.Value 10/10
Cute Filipino restaurant. Went here for brunch with friends, food is tasty, platter (pic shown). Reservation is at 12 noon but food came 45 minutes late, other than that is good.
Ordered the sisig fries and pork Shanghai via Uber Eats. Very pleasantly surprised by the amount of care and attention to detail and the quality of the ingredients. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, can't wait to order again.
