Disclaimer: we got takeout on our way home, which was about a 10 minute walkAloo tikkiThe Tikki was a little dense, but likely because it was kind of cold by the time we got home. Flavour was really good with good size portion and was a little bit spicy which my husband loved. Would love to try it again fresh out of the kitchen.Veggie PakoraThis may have been a little over-cooked as it was a bit hard to chew.Malai Kofta RotiWas not what we expected. It's almost like they forgot the kofta balls? Gravy tasted good though.Chola BhaturaThe best of the four dishes and would order again. Spicy enough for me but my husband would have liked it spicier.
Had ordered Kachori subzi, bread and paneer pakoras.Sabzi last two times was exceptional. That’s why went today but sadly it turned out completely opposite.Paneer pakora flour coating was too hard and dry.News pakora was not bad flavour but too much stuffing and again coating too hard. Both pakoras had South Indian cooking touch. Not your typical Punjabi bread pakoras.Silver lining was when told to the restaurant they were super helpful to take sabzi back and give something Else. Not sure maybe chef changed but hope they do a self quality check and get back to original taste.
I can say this one was the worst bhalla papdi I’ve ever had. I ordered it by DoorDash as soon as opened it this is how I looks like. I’ll never suggest this restaurant to anyone. You guys should take care of taste of ur dishes and should concentrate on ur packaging. This is so worst when someone is hungry and they are ordering something from you guys and at the end that person get this much worst food.
If you are craving for authentic South-Indian food, I would highly recommend this place. Being a South-Indian food lover, I ordered Dosa, Upma and Sambar. I was not expecting much, as you are not in India, but to my surprise it was beyond my expectations. Everything freshly prepared, served with delicious chutney made my day.My daughter ordered Chana bhatura and it was also delicious. Overall happy with the presentation and most importantly- the taste of India. So happy to find a restaurant with true delicacy of India ?Don’t know why some people are putting negative reviews. I think sustaining in this pandemic itself is a big task for every business. Everyone is trying best to keep their business alive. No one wants to make their customers feel dissatisfied and unhappy.Happy to have a nice place to have a family meal with Indian ambience. The owner is also so polite and hard working.Indian Spice Room - keep going, you are doing great job!
As a pure vegetarian, this is One of my favourite indian restaurant in downtown, Toronto. It's very clean with an excellent customer service. I specially liked the saag ,it's super yummy with an authentic Indian taste, which is very rare to find in toronto I strongly recommend it.
Ordered food from here with such high expectations. They gave me Chat Papdi in literally a boiled yogurt, worst chat papdi I have ever eaten. There is a reason why they are giving away dal with minimum order on uber eats because dal is completely stale and smells like a week old. Not at all a good experience. I hate to put in bad reviews about the place but this is all being done so that they improve on their quality of food.
We went in on Christmas, since it was COVID, we called and reserved a place for 2. The seating area was small, with 2 staff in the kitchen and 1 person manning the counter and the phone, for the guests during that time, there was another group of 3 and we were 2. The online orders and the delivery people were taking up all the space and time. We waited for 15 min for someone to clean our table, when for another 10 -15 min there was no sight of the order being taken, I had to approach the staff and let me know that we have been waiting and we are ready to order. We ordered thali, batura and gol guppa. The filling for the gol guppa was served cold, not even room temperature, but cold as out from the freezer, since the person manning the front desk was so busy accepting online order and getting deliveries ready for the ever flowing delivery people, I had to walk up to the kitchen to ask the staff to at least warm up the filing, the pani was served in an chipped cup. when I asked for a replacement I was told that the most of the cutlery was of the same quality. There was no green chutney served with the gol guppa. The veg thali was very mediocre, the rajma was passable, the paneer subzi was average, the alu sabzi was average, the chana was also very average, only saving grace was the roti- hot and soft. When the chana batura arrived, realized that the channa was common with the thali. Rasagulla was sweet with the thali, it was not difficult to go wrong with taking a piece from a tin and serving it with the thali. Another 15 min of waiting time and reminder that rice needs to be served as part of the thali. Between the 5 of us who were there, the serving time was more than 1 hour, considering that orders were only simple -dosa, idli, vegetable fried rice ,thali, gol guppa and chana bature. The group had to change their order because their choices were not able, this was conveyed to them after a while of their wait. The cleanliness and the set up of the whole seating area was a concern, the kitchen staff were working without hair nets. The constant stream of deliveries was taking up the time of the staff and they unable to serve the guests in the seating area. Maybe India Spice room should only accept online orders or hire more staff to serve the in person customers. They definitely need to focus on getting their cutlery in place, their old dough mixer and other unused utensils needs to move from the space near the washroom. Btw, the washroom's needs a make over as well. Although the staff was courteous and working hard, there so much they could do!. The owner of this place needs to visit the place and either consider revamping the decor to make it pleasant OR completely stop accepting guests and close the seating area. Both the food and the experience was very bad!! Please give this place a skip. Was very disappointed! not recommended.
If you are in distillery district and you want to eat good Indian food then this is your place. It is just 5 min walk from distillery district. Restaurant owner is very friendly. We tried Aloo paratha and Pavbhaji masala dosa, chole bathura they are soo tasty. This place is a must go.
The food is usually very tasty. Not recommended if punctuality is important. We order here almost every week via Ritual and they are consistently 10 - 20 minutes late. We raised this with the staff who advised us to call to confirm timing when Ritual notifies us that the order is ready. We did that today. Ritual indicated the order would be ready at 12:14. We called them at 12:14 and was advised that the order will be ready in 10 minutes. We showed up at 12:25 and was told the order would be ready in 2 minutes. That 2 minutes became 15 minutes.
The very best Indian food I have ever had.. and I lived near little India... so crazy good, fresh and after all that a super great prices too ❤❤❤
