The restaurant is clean and the waitress are kind and helpful. We ordered lobster combo choices (double lobsters, steamed fish, fried bean curd with assorted seafood and meat in hot pot, plus hot sour soup). The price is $75 dollars plus tax and tips. All dishes taste delicious. Possibly will come here again.

Can't do .5 scale in google but it was a 3.5/5 in an honest sense. Food was graciously priced, portions were huge. The drinks were meh. Lemon iced tea was a little too sweet. Red bean and green bean iced drinks were too sweet, not enough ice slush. I'd totally come back for the special lunch and afternoon tea prices. Service was great.

Dined here on a busy rainy Sunday night while I was in the Chinatown area. This Cantonese cuisine based restaurant did not disappoint us and it might actually be our go-to spot for late night eats in downtown Toronto.Despite the busy crowd, the staff here were genuinely friendly and did their best to make our dining experience a pleasant one.We ordered the XO Seafood Stir Fried Yee Mian (a well recommended replacement of the sold out rice noodles), Singapore style fried turnip cakes and fried shrimp dumplings. As a Singaporean, I appreciated the waitress’ honesty in letting me know beforehand that the “Singapore Style turnip cakes” at $9.99 + tax is not going to be the “Chye Tow Kway - Carrot Cake” that’s prevalent in Singapore, but rather a similar equivalent of it. Nevertheless, the crispness of the turnip cakes packed with high heat wok hei and garlic heavy crunch was impressive. The XO stir fried seafood noodles took a while to arrive at our table but it was worth the wait. At $15 + tax, we got a seizable portion with generous servings of shrimp, squid, vegetables and even 2 scallops in it. Despite the XO flavouring on the milder side, the dish was savoured well on that rainy night.Unconventionally, our 7 pieces of shrimp dumplings arrived last, even though it was ordered as an appetizer. Nevertheless, they were huge pieces of dumplings with crispy edges, which arrived freshly fried with filled stuffings of shrimps and mushrooms in them.Overall, the bill came to about $42 (inclusive of taxes) for all the 3 dishes that could have easily fed 3 people, or maybe 4.I will be back at House of Gourmet to try many other dishes from their extensive menu.

Incredibly nice and authentic Cantonese/Hong Kong restaurant. We go to this place after we finished touring High Park every year. Must order their number 301 rice combo (in the pic). Rost pork as sides is also good, the skin is crunchy and the meat is tender. Their onion rings are also worth eating. Free chicken soup. Can order iced coffee and milk tea mix(not on the menu but can speak with the waitress).

Located right across Dundas street west, House of Gourmet offers great variety in Chinese food at a reasonable price. We visited this place around 12:30 am on a weekday and this place was still 60% filled with guests.Tried their whole Lobster, Dimsums, General Tao's chicken, Hot Pot, and Fried rice and all the items tasted really good.Would specially recommend to try out their seafood and the Lobster because it's delicious!A must visit place if you're nearby. Highly recommended.

Casual place for chinese food in China town. The price is very reasonable. The place is actually spacious and has a big menu from breakfast to late dinner. Their staffs are super fast and nice! This is my go to place to get Roasted pork!

So much better than your neighbourhood Chinese delivery! One thing about this place is that they make their food so good that even your taste buds will remember it!Be ready to wit on the weekends as the wait is around 1/2 an hour. Thé cleanliness is not top notch and it’s a pretty loud place!Food taste 9/10Ambience 5/10Cleanliness 5/10Service 6/10Overall must try!

Excellent turnip cakes

Awesome place for Peking duck. Meat is juicy and has great flavour. The crepe wraps are perfectly thin and the hoisin peanut sauce is too good. Take any leftover sauce packed to go - don't let it go to waste!

Don't get the fried rice. It's fake. It's steamed rice mixed with other ingredients. Fried rice is fragrant, short grain, has shallots and is amazing. This is long grain and tasteless. A sham! The other dishes were OK, but on principle, and because fried rice is a cornerstone of Chinese takeout, I'm giving this place 2 stars. Please don't call it fried rice if it is not fried rice.
