I am an extremely picky eater and hands down, this is some of the best fish and chips I have ever hadI took everybody's advice and had the Haddock and it did not disappoint. The batter is light, perfect golden brown and crispy and the fish so moist and tender. 5 stars alone for the haddock! The chips (fries), mushy peas and the tartar sauce taste delicious. The coleslaw taste alrightThe service is helpful and professional

Average Cod fish and chips with tartar sauce. Bland batter and fish.Edit in response to owner's reply: Cod is indeed a mild-flavored fish, but by blandness I was referring to how the batter and fish weren't well seasoned imo. No hate, just an honest opinion. Thanks for the offer, but I'd buy it proper, not looking to get a free meal. Will add that the takeout service was fast and pleasant.

Bought fish and chips from this dump three years ago and have not been back since; fish was under cooked and fries just as bad- threw them out, total waste of money. Maybe it's just me, but when l eat out / order out, l expect the food to say the least, edible. And now with Covid restrictions easing up and prices going up and restaurants gouging you etc., don't eat out unless you really have to.You owe businesses nothing.....

The food was pretty average. We ordered two different types of fish but the restaurant didn't label them when we picked up so we had no idea which was which. Service was poor, made us feel like they were doing us a favour by selling us food. Won't be going back

first time eating this fish and chip! the halibut is moist and tender very reasonable priced! i will definitely order again

Best fish n chips in city!! Friendly staff and great food! fish taco is also amazing!! I've eaten here more times than i can count and its always great!

I ordered for pick-up today and was not disappointed! The fish (haddock) was really nice. Not too heavily battered, and cooked perfectly. I have no complaints. It's deep fried food, sure, so it's going to be a bit greasy, but the food also didn't seem to be swimming in grease, so I really liked that as well. The real winner was the sauces! Oh my... the curry sauce was really lovely - an authentic mild British-style curry sauce you'd find at a chippy on the Islands. And they have MUSHY PEAS! Hooray! It's such a requirement (in my view) yet also such a rare commodity that I'm at the point where if a fish & chip shop doesn't have 'em, I'm just not going to order from there. At Hooky's, they've got 'em, and they're really gorgeous. It counts as a "sauce" so you can get it included with a standard order of fish and chips if you'd like, which is a nice bonus.Since I made a nice coleslaw earlier in the day, I had that with the meal (which went really well by the way) and didn't order any coleslaw from the restaurant, so I can't speak to whether it's the creamy or vinaigrette type, and their menu isn't clear about that. So if you're picky about that kind of thing (as I am) you might want to ask before ordering.I really wanted to, but I couldn't in good conscience give it 5 stars this time 'round and had to deduct a star because the chips were simply way too over-salted; almost to the point of being inedible. Luckily I was able to brush some of the salt off with the help of a napkin. If some little thing were off, I'd probably let it slide, but the chips are such a major part of the meal that this was a big papercut for me.Perhaps the establishment, if they read this review, could indicate whether serving very salty chips is just "a thing" with them or if it was likely a one-off issue. If it's a known thing, I'll likely just remember to ask for them light on the salt next time. That being said, I really enjoyed my meal from Hooky's and will definitely be back again.

Ordered the Beer Battered Fish Taco & Jalapeno Popcorn Shrimp TacoThese definitely satisfied my taco cravings and I was surprised with the fish portion - great for price! My fav was the shrimp - so tasty and flavourful compared to the fish. Will visit again for the shrimp tacos and try their fish & chips

Seriously so delicious!! My partner and I both got the haddock fish and chips and loved it. The batter was crisp and light, and the chips were a very generous portion. It was hot and fresh, the person making it was very friendly and clearly put a lot of care into packaging up our order. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Formerly known as Chippys. The guys here are easy going, they have a great selection of music to listen to as you wait for the best fish & chips in the city downtown core. Everytime I come back it tastes the same, the staff are friendly and the music is excellent while waiting.A great picnic suggestion for Trinity Bellwoods Park or a tastey fried treat in front of the TV?
