Me and my family went to this place for dinner one evening. It looked like a bunch of high school students were running it (including the cook). We ordered fried and fillets on the grill. The cook took the fillets FROZEN from the freezer and placed them in batter to fry and directly on the hot grill; yes FROZEN. Unfortunately it's like a fast-food restaurant where you pay first and get your food later. I asked the cook what he was doing cooking fish when it's frozen. He told me that this how it's done. I replied that it's absolutely not how it's done; especially the one he put on the grill. I asked for my money back but they wouldn't give it. I asked for the manager and again, a young high school looking kid, told me that I'd have to complain to head office. So that's what you'll get from Halibut House of Fish and Chips.
Halibut was so dry and overfried you couldn't even use your fork to cut it, it was like cutting the sole of your shoe. I'm not sure how you could screw up fries but they did. They were also so dry and overcooked. Not the crispy outside, soft inside you expect when eating fries. While we did get a ton of fries in the order, they pretty much went to waste because we couldn't eat them. For the price, definitely a disappointment. Will not return.
First time I ordered from this place the food was excellent so much so that I spoke to plenty of my co worker’s that they need to try it……. Bad news second time I ordered the quality of the food was very disgusting Luke warm more on the cold side almost as it was food that had been prepared at 9am & sat all day then packaged to deliver at 6pm ….when a person is paying $60 for an order in these times quality should be first priority would definitely not recommend moving forward ???
Dishonest.Wife and I ordered to take advantage of their January BOGO 50% deal. Ordered Halibut and sweet potato fries and halibut and mushy peas. Wife was told mushy peas are a separate side item and there would be a x dollar charge for them, which we were fine with. When we came by to pick up order, was told discount only applies to fish AND chips. Was not told that on the phone, and this itemization leads to the highest possible total. This is, in my opinion dishonest and anti-consumer.No complaints about the food, we've ordered here many times before. There are better places in Toronto for fish and chips, but this is close to home and convenient. However this will be the last time we order here.
Picked up a couple orders of halibut with fries/onion rings and coleslaw this afternoon for the first time from this restaurant and my wife and I absolutely loved the meals!! We strongly recommend this location for any fish & chips lovers.
This is my go-to fish and chips place when I'm in this part of the city. They have too many things to choose from. I usually get the haddock or halibut with chips, with tax and tip it comes to about $20. It will fill you up. Not bad when most fast food places are at about $15 a combo. The quality is definitely better here as well. The lady who always serves me is very nice. The place is clean and it is family friendly. I always eat here.

Very delicious with generous portions! We decided to eat in today and we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food and quality we received. The service was very friendly and attentive! Awesome place, awesome people and awesome decor.

I been coming here for years on and off but never have I received a takeout order this bad. The French fried were cold greasy and burned with lots of little ends, no coleslaw and they give me the wrong fish the New Zealand summer special which is half the size of the normal haddock special that I ordered. The fish was dry and really thin, It looks like a kids meal with lots and lots of greasy burned fries. Not happy and at all totally feel ripped out and let down. Tell everyone all my friends down at home depot not to come here. Garbage that they would try to pass along the cheaper special to save themselves a few bucks.
