Amazing ambiance, lovely interior design, service was very fast and efficient. They were flexible and accommodated dietary restrictions. Also, the Aloo Tikki which is only available on the weekend is exquisite. The samosas have a layer of seasoning and stuffings in the middle!Would come again for the experience and the food.
We visited ISKCON Temple and after 12.30 AARTI, went to Govinda for Lunch. Not much crowd. Atmosphere was peaceful. Menu is not very elaborate but their fixed amount Thali is sufficient for one person. This is not in buffet style but served on Table. As expected, the food is SATVIK, tasty and not at all spicy. Some religious books are displayed for sale within the restaurant area.
The veg thali was excellent - everything was super tasty and filling. I didn’t realise it came with a samosa and dessert on top of the rice, chapati, three curries and cup of dhal! The restaurant space in the old church has a great atmosphere - very peaceful. I just wish they would use non-plastic plates and cutlery for dine-in. Would love to try all of their other thali dishes another time!
Great place to have free meal on Sunday with some spiritual sessions. Also they have restaurants you can order through Uber eats. I tried their veg thali and it’s amazing. Prices are little high of thali as it should be $9.99 coz You offering free food too .It would be great for any student who can’t cook and They can afford easily. Love this place ❤️ must visit once ?
Great place for a sit down and have a pure vegetarian meal. The Iskon temple is in the same building and closed currently dueto covid (or opens up for short time? ). Limited menu (A thali for 12+ CAD, samosa plate for 5 CAD, samosa chat for 7 etc). Few tables only. But spacious.Apparently the building is pretty old and was acquired in 1972. It was earlier known as Gateway To Toronto.
I would like to call the food humble but wow did it hit all the right spots. Healthy, homemade style, comfort food. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Toronto. My first and probably only 6 stars, if that was an option. 2 of us could not finish the two thalis and samosas we ordered.
I had the vegetarian thali, samosa chaat and sweets here with my wife for lunch last weekend. The vegetarian thali reminded me of home, which is the highest compliment I can think of. Every part of the thali from the curries to the dessert tasted divine, which is what offerings to our dear Lord Krishna should taste like. I would recommend it to everyone.
Have only ordered take-out. Good, solid Indian food - very “home taste” so it gets highly marks. I wish they would update their Insta so you know what you’re getting. Have often regretted ordering to get vegetables I don’t like. Samosa quality has deteriorated quite a bit over past year though.
Food is ok but they never pack the order right. If I pay for extra roti then make sure you put in the extra roti.pls read the order before packing. It’s not rocket science and it’s not an issue which happened only once. It happens all the time.Update- ordered 2nd time and everything was packed properly. The food is good for the price. Changing to 4 stars
Hare Krishna ?? Govinda’s is a must visit when you visit the temple , even otherwise. The saathvik food that you get to buy to eat here is incomparable to any other restaurant. They offer amazing menu for ekadashi as well. Always blessed to get to eat food here and it is pure bliss after you honour the prasad ?????? the staff here is so friendly and helps orders arrive without delay at your tables.
