Frans become my regular place since the first day I visited in the late evening, a time in Toronto which hard to find anything open. The Retro deco brings me back to the old 50's, it’s like dining in your grandparents’.My favorite and always goes-to is chocolate pancake, berries is okay. Usually order side pancakes(only two pieces)than normal size(four pieces) cuz the portion here is way too big for me.The other favorite is Lasagna, never goes wrong with it! Loved the sauce deeply.Chicken waffles would rank second if I am craving for fried stuff. Burger and steak are mediocre, salad is just okay.(Caesar dressing is too oily)Don’t recommend Salmon Benedict, the salmon is overcooked and the bread is soaking wet.
Went there for brunch on a rainy day. I had spaghetti and meatballs with shredded parmesan (I guess) on the side (in a small clear container) and a lemonade. My partner had NY strip with mashed potato and veg (beans and carrots) on the side. Must say the portions were bigger compared to the price. The food tasted good and the beverage was okay. Service was really prompt. The nicest thing about the place is its old-school vibe. It's a vintage place and offers the coziness that makes you comfortable as you dine. Didn’t know its 24hrs open. Will go for dinner sometimes soon.

My partner and I came here and had a chill time at the upstairs bar area. The place is spacious and clean, with nice decor and good music too.Lots of TVs playing sport games for those into that.The heaters were on pretty high so it was quite warm in there.The food was alright, nothing special.Overall I liked the place and it's ambient, good for hanging out with friends over some drinks and snacks.
I wrote a review on google as it prompted me and my wife and i spoke about both our experiences before i posted the owners response to that review is below I used to love Frans, My wife and I were so disappointed this time Used to have great food and good portions new owners have made some poor changes in the food quality They have changed the menu removing some favs The food quality is far lower the burger was burnt the fries are not as good as they were previously (but I am corrected they aren't coated) I used to order desert evertime as it was homemade, after our lunch we skipped it Its not worth the trip downtown to go here Response from the owner Hi Stuart, thanks for your review. Pretty solid breakfast spot. Great potion size compared to the other breakfast places I've been to. It was pretty busy on a Sunday morning - there was quite a few people waiting to be checked in, but overall the wait for a table was quite short. I got the classic eggs benedict, but all the other orders at the table all looked very delicious. I did notice the server didn't ask how I wanted my eggs to be done (for the benedict), but they were cooked very well regardless - I just know some places ask for this. Paying for the bill took a while, but overall, it was a good experience. Would probably go again for breakfast.
Ordered the Big breakfast and the Morning glory waffles and was not overly impressed with either. The poached eggs tasted sweet and seemed like they were poached in butter and water. The morning glory waffles were drench in syrup rather than “drizzled” like advertised. This made the waffles rather unappetizing if you don’t like super sweet foods The service was quick and friendly but the food wasn’t the best relative to other options nearby.
I ordered pasta today on uber eats, and it took forever the paper container showed up wet and soggy (to be faire this was Uber's fault), but the problem is that the person packaging the meal left the platic cutlery pouch inside the container on top of the pasta. So my meal too an hour and half to arrive, and this plastic pouch sat on top of my hot pasta, instead of just in the plastic bag it came in. Really bummed out because Fran's is usually a super solid...
