This was my first time ordering their food and it was amazing! I lived in Halifax for five years before moving to Toronto, where there aren't many Taiwanese restaurants.Came here after moving here because I missed the Taiwanese beef noodle taste and ordered their signature beef noodle. It's very delicious, very Taiwanese! The broth was thick but not greasy, with the taste of pickled veggies in the mouth, plus the tenderness and strength of the beef, it's really delicious!(I changed the noodle, because I like the texture of rice noodles better. My boyfriend ordered the normal noodle, and I also tried a bite, very Taiwanese traditional style)We also ordered gua baos, popcorn chicken and 3 side dishes. The gua baos were very delicious, but a little too small. I especially love the pork one, which is very tender. The popcorn chicken is me and my boyfriend's favorite, but prob cuz I just miss the taste of the Taiwanese fried stuff. The three side dishes were pig ears, dried tofu and marinated eggs. The pig ears and tofu were very tasty, but the egg was soso.Overall, their beef noodles, gua baos, and popcorn chicken were super delicious, but the portion was way too small, especially the gua baos were really gone after three bites. But the taste is very authentic! Love it!
Ordered one of their rice dishes (Braised Beef, Tendon and Tripe Rice) which came ready to go once I ordered. The beef was stewed well and tender, and the tendon and tripe were also flavourful. The portion size seemed a bit small but overall was a decent meal. It is probably more recommended to try their noodle dishes as well but the rice bentos are still a good option.
Truly, I've not had noodles so bad I couldn't finish it. I barely took a few bites and had to put it down. The noodles were tough and had a very strong flour smell. It was totally raw even after letting it stew in the broth for awhile. For delivery, they should at least cook the noodles for awhile considering the broth will not be piping hot.The broth itself was bland and tasteless. I was aching to add some more salt. The chicken pieces were few and full of bones. Awful way to ruin my meal. The only reason it's not a 1 star is because the salt & pepper chicken was ok. Nothing special about it but at least it was edible. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
Been here a few times with my boyfriend who is from Taiwan. Great noodles and I would also recommend the pork guabao.
The atmosphere, service and food are amazing! Highly recommend dining here!
Good place to get Taiwanese cuisine near Yonge and College, like braised beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken, and Taiwanese luwei (braised meats and offals). The popcorn chicken portion was generous but a bit salty. The grass jelly with red bean and tapioca was tasty.
Ordered chicken bento box for take out. Literally 7 pieces of chicken for $17. Tastes good so I was even more disappointed— but 7 pieces ? That is ridiculous. Other restaurants have twice more for half the price.
Went here for trying Taiwanese food for the first time. Beautifully lit restaurant with nice staff. Food was delicious and the portion was good. I tried the spicy beef noodle soup. It wasn’t spicy but was good and filling.
Dining with friends and fellow foodies is definitely something I've missed during this COVID era. It was nice to be out again, enjoying some good food!I met some friends for dinner at Four Four South Village, downtown on Yonge Street. It was my first time being there but I was looking forward to having some Taiwanese cuisine. We started by ordering several appetizers, including Braised Beef Shank, Braised Rib Finger Meat, Signature Braised Tofu, Braised Meatball with Soy Sauce, and Braised Pork Trotters. It was all good, hard to choose a favourite. Both ladies in our group had the Hot Pot and it looked delicious! It was all presented on a tray, complete with a gas burner, a pot of broth, noodles, meat to be cooked, and condiments. It looked good! Maybe I should have ordered that!I had the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup and it was delicious! The broth had a rich flavour that I enjoyed and the beef was very tender. The other two guys in our party of five had something similar and they also enjoyed it.The decor was nice, with a rustic kinda village vibe. There was exposed concrete and brick walls, very tastefully done though. The food was good, with decent portions, good flavours, and good service. I would come back. One negative, however, was all the chipped dishware, almost every piece. Or was that part of the rustic ambiance? Hmmm...
The beef noodle soup at Four Four South Village is generally quite good. I recommend trying the spicy version on a cold/rainy day. I tried the chicken soup once and it not as flavourful. Peanut allergy sufferers should be careful. My partner had a reaction even though the dishes did not explicitly contain peanuts. There might be some cross contamination.
