Amazing staff, excellent service and great food. You can tell the care that they put into preparing dishes, and to ensure everyone that stays feels welcome. The sausage and smoked BBQ pork tasted incredible, and the deep fried ice cream is a great way to cap off the whole experience.
They seem to treat their staff tremendously. I recently saw an add for a position, and everything they offer. They truly seem to care about their staff's well being, offering far better than minimum wage, health and dental benefits, right down to regular check-ins with staff to ensure a work/life balance is in place. I wish I lived closer to apply, and I'll definitely be checking this place out when I'm in the area. Keep up the great work, and being a great example of how others businesses should treat their staff!
Went to have dinner with friends today, food is really good, specially their mac and cheese, amazing! The only thing I didn't like much (and reason why I don't give this place 5 stars) is that servers were taking the plates really fast from our table and felt like they were rushing us to leave the restaurant, had to drink my beer as fast as I could and didn't enjoy much because I felt the pressure, and the weird thing is that there was no people waiting outside, restaurant wasn't busy as well.Overall, this place is worth trying, but if you're looking to chill for a long time with friends, this might not be the spot for you.
Went to celebrate my partner's and MIL's birthday. Had such a great time. Adrian and all the staff were exceedingly welcoming and provided excellent service! All the food was delicious but the turkey was a surprise super star! Definitely recommend!
Went there several times. Loved the place before. Food and atmosphere. Made take out for birthday. Everything was good but pulled pork. Wasn't much meat;( only fat;( and mushrooms were too peppery
I've been going to and ordering from Barque for the past 4 years or so. I enjoy most of their food but over the course of the last 2 years prices have increased significantly and portions seem smaller. Little things that used to come with meat orders like a sauce now cost a few dollars. Gestures like a small bag of popcorn used to be thrown in orders free which was just a really nice touch. These are now additional charges. Hopefully this feedback helps because I'd like to remain a steady customer.
Four of us went our for dinner and ate inside the restaurant. The food was full of meat options with sides also on the menu so I would call it a typical BBQ joint. Drink list is good and the food is a 10/10.
Just tried Barque for the first time and for sure it will not be the last time! We had a wide variety of their offerings - the Meet Meat dinner for 4 so ribs, pulled pork, brisket, turkey and sausage all of which were delicious. The lemon pepper wings were fantastic and the smokey dill coleslaw was super delicious. Of course we also had to the fries which, despite the fact we did take out remained crisp and yummy - so often fries get all soggy when doing take out.The customer service was all A+++ with every person we had contact with. Despite the trying times of Covid, all the staff were really upbeat which indicates, at least to me, they all like working there, take pride in what they do and that has to be top down and suspect staff are all treated as they should! Many thanks for the super-duper meal. We will be back for more and will be fun to eat there when the world returns to a time we can do so.
The best BBQ Smokehouse in the area honestly. Their sunday smoked chicken dinner is literally the best thing I have had in terms of meat in a while. Full of flavor and delicious overall. We had this for Christmas dinner and the leftovers were the best leftovers I ever had. More than enough for a family of 4 and we loved every bite. Thanks for making it easy for take out during the holiday times. I would recommend again.
- this review written during lockdown-type takeout-only period - i only go out of my way to review if an establishment is significantly good or BAD. - laughably, despite 4-5 employees twiddling their thumbs inside, the phone service does not allow for calling in to arrange an order and pickup. for walk-ins, you literally have to walk in and order. - owners have made the TERRIBLE CHOICE to add, even for in-person pickup orders, a pre-tax 10% "hospitality" gratuity. notably, in a time when customers will often MAKE THE CHOICE to tip on sales, based on 'empathy with local businesses during Covid' -- instead the owners have MANDATED an additional, made-up charge, even for people who are effectively their own hospitality. no mention of it, no discussion about it, just a flat percentage additional fee without negotiation. - add this to Barque's already STAGGERING prices, and the free spicy popcorn feels like a piss in the face. Barque's, if you can't handle the recession, adjust your base prices accordingly, but ADDITIONAL MADE-UP NON-NEGOTIABLE gratuities are a topic for the Roncesvalles BIA. - the feeling is one of "we're going to need that Doordash fee" from walk-ins as well. - it's greedy, grabby and in an upscale neighbourhood, the feeling of profiteering. - the quality of the food, despite it being entirely dried out, is high, as is well-known in the neighbourhood. - BUT: the costs the establishment is expecting of its customers will almost assuredly result in losing repeat business. - do yourself a favour and go to Cafe Polonez or any of the fair and caring establishments in the area instead.
