Where charm meets flavour. This humble spot (run by the sweetest, most welcoming owner) has sweet and savoury flavours which are, in my humble opinion, some of the best in the city for insanely good prices. The lemon bichon… deserves its own social media following. She’s an icon, and she is the moment. One thing of note- I do hope this spot invests in some indoor seating as the weather turns. That strip of College definitely lacks for good spots to comfortably relax while you eat and sip your coffee, and I hope they get wise to this asap!
The chocolate cake is what brought me here. Jill was kind enough to set aside a cake even though I gave less than 48 hours notice. Every bite contained moist layers of cake with the perfect balance of chocolatey richness. The mushroom pastry was very tasty as well. The chocolate chip cookie came highly recommended by a well known food blogger. I’ll be honest, I had my doubts when I heard it contained sea salt and was known as the best cookie in Toronto but I decided to try it anyway. It took me two bites to truly process the different flavours and textures of the cookie. It was warm, crispy and chewy followed by a bit of savouriness with the perfect amount of sweetness from the chocolate chips. I think it is safe to say that this is the best cookie I have tried in Toronto so far. This is coming from a chocolate lover and someone that has tried a lot of different spots. Do yourself a favour and check it out next time you’re in the area - you won’t regret it!
Recommend the lemon bichon- a caramelized crispy lemon custard filled pastry. Very nice indeed. We also tried the popular OG sausage roll, and while the sausage was very nice for $5.65 plus tax, this is a bit pricy. It was not out of this world. For the price, I would not recommend and am baffled at the other reviews praising this item. Makes Toronto a very confusing place to try things when everyone is extremely generous with their ratings. I want to be honest and not disparage this patisserie. Come for their sweets.Lastly we tried the chocolate chip cookie straight out of the oven and it was not amazing, just a solid cookie. Again, a bit pricy. The service is very good.
My favorite spot!!! Best sausage rolls, cakes and the loveliest staff in town!! I love this place so much. ??
Hands down the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had (warm, gooey, crisp, chocolatey)! The pastries are buttery and flakey and the staff are some of the nicest and most talented people in the business.
My go to place for every cake in my life. The cookies are the best in the city and really I've been blown away by everything I've tried. The service is always friendly. The Mushroom puff! The Lemon Bichon!
Whatever you get, make sure to also order a Lemon Bichon
I bought some pastries to try and was so disappointed. The two savory ones (with mushrooms and apple/cheddar) were just okay although there is very little filling. But the sweet ones (peach/custard and lemony) are incredibly sugary. One can't taste anything other than sugar. Lemony had nothing on the top nor inside, just burned sugar coated, hard, plain and ugly.... Everything so overpriced. It is awful... I regret the money spent.
Just wow. Had the pepperoni pizza puff, sausage roll and blueberry pastry and they were the best pastries I've ever had! They are pricey but the quality is pretty immaculate if you ask me. Can't wait to try it all.
Barbershop Patisserie is hands down the best place in the city for puff pastry!! Not to mention the cakes and chocolate chip cookies. With some classic staples as well as new seasonal items, you'll be visiting weekly before you know it. Saturdays are nothing without a sausage roll and lemon bichon!I ordered the Bourbon Pumpkin Cheesecake for Thanksgiving weekend and I can't wait...
