Food Quality: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Price/Value: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐All I can say is WOW was this place a surprise. Came here for the first time and was delighted by the overall atmosphere/ambiance with the Latin music played throughout the restaurant really setting the mood. The staff were great as they immediately greeted and seated us while giving us some time to order. 2 glasses with a jug of water was quickly served and after spending 5-10 minutes trying to figure out what to get due to what felt like an overwhelming amount of options, our kind waitress suggested we try the "Arepa Combo For Two" for $36 to which we agreed to try with the following selections:1.) Empanadas: 1 Beef & 1 Chicken.2.) Arepas: 2 Pabellon.3.) Sauces: Chipotle & Wasacaca. The food was prepared very quickly, almost within 10-15 mins and when brought to our table, was extremely tantalizing. The yuca fries were some of the best if not the best fries I've ever tasted while the empanada and arepa were delicious! Almost ended up going to heaven half way through the meal haha. Our waitress kindly checked on us a few times to fill our jug and to make sure the food was to our liking. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend trying this restaurant out and specifically the "Arepa Combo For Two" as I feel it is worth the money for the amount of food you get. Will definitely be back to try more items from their menu!
Delicious! absolutely delicioso. We had fried yuca for appetizer (fried but once in a while is fine). And I had chorizo arepa. It was tasty and spicy. They also have a drink made of sugar cane and it is very refreshing. Wish I had taken pictures.
Really tasty food here, the service is great, and the Venezuelan lemonade is delicious!
Absolutely delicious food, friendly wait staff. The Latin platter for two will not disappoint. We got the mushroom and cheese empanada and were blown away. Highly recommended!
I am Venezuelan, and the food being served at this restaurant is not 100% authentic. The worst were the Tequeños. They served a fried cachapa dough (sweet corn mix) with a string of cheese inside. THAT IS NOT tequeño. Tequeño is a 'cuboid' piece of white, semi-hard cheese wrapped in an all purpose flour dough and fried until golden. The arepas were so small that they were almost bite size. That is not how Venezuelans prepare arepas. Arepas are intended to be a full meal, hence the size is very generous. To make matter worse, when I went, it was clear the restaurant was understaffed. A server, who was new, did not know how to serve simple cocktails, and the one that was just rum and cane sugar water (Rumba Papelon) was very messy as he did not know how to measure an ounce of rum. It was not his fault, but the owner's who put him to serve without any training. Although the sizes, lack of staff and the recipes were all wrong, the prices were high. I am giving a 2 star because the server (the guy who was new) did everything to make up for the lack of everything the restaurant had. Otherwise, it would have been a Zero (One as it is the minimum). I will never go back and I would never recommend this place to anyone.
This restaurant has got to be one of the best in the city. Good service and very good food. Had the La Vaca Real which was heaven. The beef was cooked to perfection and left me wanting more. Overall an amazing experience. And the Colombian waiter was extremely friendly. Would 100% recommend.
Astronomically overpriced. I made the mistake of going in, wanting to try some food… and can’t believe I spent $11 on a tiny baby sandwich :S The arepa is tiny, probably should cost about $4. Inside of it were two or three slices of plantain, and one small spoonful of beans (not an exaggeration). That’s it. The cornmeal was ok, the filling was subpar.Unfortunate.
I can't speak to the ambience of Bar Bacan (which I'm sure is lovely!), but I recently tried their food through delivery and absolutely loved it. I'd never had Argentinian or Venezuelan food before and I am a newly forged fan.My husband has celiac disease and I can't say enough about how grateful I am for the majority of Bacan's menu being accessible to him. Only a few items aren't safe, but they are all easily avoided as each item is clearly labeled. We shared a selecton of arepas and Venezuelan empanadas with yuca fries, flan, doughnuts, and ther limited time cheese cachapa (corn pancake); there's not a single thing we didn't both enjoy and he swore it was his favorite meal in a long time. Strong statement! The standout for me was definitely the doughnut balls, which I think are yuca-based and just *so* good with the dulce de leche. I only wish we had ordered two servings since we plowed through them so quickly!
My girlfriend and I came here to celebrate her birthday and we could not have asked for more. We had the arepa combo with empenadas and yuca fries (see picture) and it was delicious. The arepas were so good that we each ordered an additional arepa afterwards. The staff were very kind and attentive. They even played happy birthday over the speakers and brought us a flan with dulche de leche on top. Highly recommend this spot and I will be back to try the rest of the menu.
