The soft Gelato seems like - If McDonald's had Gelato, that's what you would get.The coconut bar tastes more like vanilla with a hint of coconutTexture and flavor seem artificial compared to other places in the Downtown core. That's my opinion based on what I've experienced.

Im not a type of person who writes reviews, however I seriously believe this place deserves one.Their ice cream is probably the best I have ever had in Toronto. Its flavourful, its fun, its creative and its anything but typical. You must try to understand my review. The flavours are sometimes just simply good and sometimes they are phenomenal ! What matters is that they keep trying and most of the time they get it right. But what really brought me here is the wonderful attitude of their staff. They are genuinely kind people who you can sense they are spreading good vibes with their store.Looking forward to your next batch !

I first had Bar Ape when they drove their truck and parked by Trinity Bellwoods, back in 2015. They had some amazing classic flavours like pistachio, lemon and creamsicle bars. Since then they have opened a storefront, introduced soft serve, and continuously come up with new and fun flavours and concepts. Can't wait to enjoy some this summer!

As I look towards Spring and Summer, I feel hopeful mostly because I know my dear Bar Ape will be back. I've been a loyal fan from their truck days on the streets of Queen W/Trinity bellwoods to stocking up in heaps at their St Clair Joint now. James and Nick are A+ humans and have created a product and continue to create flavour profiles that are simply put, incredible. Hard working humans with incredible understanding of local, exciting flavour combinations. Love them and love Bar Ape. I can't wait to be back soon!

One of the best gelato places i've been to. The people are friendly and their hand crafted bars and soft serve are simply delicious. Everything is made from scratch and the assortment of flavours are ''endless''. From slightly different flavours such as anise and almond to classic flavours like vanilla, chocolate, and coffee i don't think i've ever been dissapointed. its a true gem in toronto.

I love Bar Ape. It is about a 12 min drive from my house. These guys always seem to be busy!! So far these guys have the best ice cream in the city.

This is great gelato and icecream but not worth repeating in my opinion. This is of course, based on my limited choices of getting the Salted Caramel Sundae. I thought the Fior Di Latte flavor wasn’t very strong for the icecream. The Pistachio bar was good. Chocolate Hazelnut was decent too.

Bar Ape has some great ice cream bars/gelato hybrids, but I would say there closer to an Ice cream bar then a true gelato bar. There good. Not worth a half hour line good, but they are worth trying. Returning favorite is the hazelnut bar. Reasonably priced at $5. When I’m craving an ice-cream bar, bar ape is at the top of the list, but when I’m craving gelato, this does not hit the spot they way I would want. Also, the soft serve is pretty small, and honestly, again more on the ice-cream side then a true gelato. Great spot when there’s no long lines.

I’ve had gelato / ice cream all over the world and I think this is my favourite!!! I love that the flavours rotate seasonally. You can really taste the quality and the freshness. It might be a bit more expensive than your average ice cream shop but I think it’s worth it.

I never got why people love this place so much. Their flavours are fun, but the gelato is just normal soft serve. I would get it if I was in the area, but definitely wouldn’t drive out for it.
