Came here to have dinner with friends. The food was very good. We sat outdoors and the weather was lovely. The portion sizes are pretty good for the price. Our server was very good and made sure we were well taken care of. The only thing that wasn’t good was the toilets, which needed some cleaning and refill of toilet paper.Getting to Greektown was easy and parking was easily found just behind the restaurant. It’s nice to have a walk on the Danforth after dinner to walk off all that food!
Went with my coworker during our lunch break. It took about 25 minutes to get our appetizer (just one order) and we were the only ones dining in on a Tuesday afternoon. 45 minutes in total and we did not get our main order so we had to leave. We ended up ordering takeout from Messini Gyros down the street... took us 6 minutes to get the same item we ordered from Astoria
Not the best experience to be honest..from the minute I stepped foot in this place we stood waiting to be seated the guy usher looking at us yet chatting with some client for over ten minutes! Till we talked to his boss who apologized and seated us..the greek salad came with no onions at all though we asked and they said they put in it..so another aplogy and salad replacement! The lamb kabab chops were ordered yet what was served was obviously Beef kabab! ..the patio seating is nice overlooking the main street..But the overall experience is disappointing..wont revisit!
Ordered for pick up and meal did not come with tzatziki and cutlery (I erred on the tzatziki when I went back to ask for it. Anyone who's had to go back to get something understands the frustration of having to return). As for the cutlery this was the second time - but the manager's response was 'we are not mind readers, we don't know if you need cutlery. It's our policy to not give it out unless you ask'WT! How about asking your customers if they need it instead of assuming they don't...and 'we are not mind readers'...wow. I've patronized them several times and safe to say I'm definitely not going back. And yes I'm using my fingers to eat.To ownership - save your rubber stamp responses about sending you an email!
I have been a customer of Astorua Danforth since 1985. I travel 2 hours to dine in because of the quality service and amazing food. Not my last visit. I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with service and our meal. It was terrible in all honesty. Salad was overly dressed and there was a pool of oil on my plate I could literally scoop with a spoon, the pork was not only undercooked but 1 full piece was fat and gristle. Not to mention we ordered the dinner size and literally got 4 pieces of meat. Never have we had such poor quality. Our server was unattentive and almost seemed annoyed to be there.37 years as a faithful and loyal customer so I'm mostly sad. I don't think I will be making the drive again anytime soon. The Newmarket location has much better service and quality now and is only half hour for me.
Passed by Astoria Shish Kebob House this evening and got attracted by the chef who was grilling the calamari and lamb from the window. Service was excellent. Staff were welcoming & nice. Our lamb and chicken souvlakis were super juicy and full of flavor. The grill calamari were cooked perfectly and very delicious. Their Tzatziki sauce was very tasty and smooth. Our server Michael was very friendly and courteous. He checked on us few times to make sure we were ok and had sufficient drinks. He advised Astoria offers another 2 locations at Richmond Hill and Mississauga. Fabulous Authentic Greek cuisine in Danforth. Will definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family. Please keep up the great food and services to customers!
The quality is level 5 - service was good- they kept trying to upsell me which took away a bit. I would visit again as the food is really quite good!
When we lunched on a Saturday, Dina, our server, was also responsible for the take-out counter: the take out counter was non-stop busy. And Dina was still an exceptional server: attentive, friendly, and welcoming. We would return just for Dina's service. The food was tasty, portions were very generous (except for the lamb chops: yummy but too small a portion to be value for money) and the draft beer was fairly priced.
Nice Greek spot on the Danforth to grab a quick bite. Prices have climbed slowly like everywhere else unfortunately but the food is good so still worth a try. One of my favourite Tzatziki’s in the City and that’s usually what brings me back time and time again.
2 years and couple months since the pandemic! I had a great lunch today and enjoyed it very much! Michael was an amazing server, he was so friendly and attentive. Looking forward to returning.
