The coolest spot in town for unique food and a great beer listing. Marie behind the bar is an institution in the city.
We were reminiscing about our trip across Canada this summer (6 months ago) and I couldn’t remember if we left a review for this wonderful stop. My daughter remembered the menu and I remembered the beer menu. It was an absolute scorcher of a day, remember the heat wave of 2021?! Well the patio was all they had, but they were very accomodating with the umbrella, and the service and food and drinks were very excellent. I didn’t think Thunder Bay was going to be one of the highlights of our trip, but this restaurant, and the Courthouse Hotel, really helped make it that. Great memories.
Delicious portobello mushrooms sandwich, but the kimchi fries were the highlight of the visit! Good beer selection, and very helpful service when we wanted to try local beers as we were just in town for the evening. A little pricier than your cheap diner food, but very reasonable and worth it for the quality!
This is obviously the place to be!! We got the last table on a Saturday night, it was so busy!! We only stopped in for a drink but will definitely be back for food.Service was great, atmosphere was awesome.Can’t wait to try some of their delicious looking food!
Best bar for a casual drink in town. Great snax and the staff is cool as heck.
Very hipster grunge vibe. Very nice and honest serving staff. Only popped in for a quick drink and it was ok for the price that was paid.
The now-defunct Where to Eat in Canada recommended the Sovereign Room and with good reason. We shared the cauliflower bites which were fried in the most delicious zesty, lemony coating paired with a lovely dipping sauce as well as the insanely indulgent duck confit poutine which currently shared top spot for not luxurious and rich poutine I've had with a camembert poutine I once had. The duck is generous and the gravy is deeply flavoured. The fries themselves are mind-blowingly good. To finish of this rich meal, I recommend the Dante's Peak cocktail, it is such a creative cocktails, so light and refreshing, but also causes the same effect as a grappa of cutting through the full-bellied feeling. The service was also incredibly kind, rapid, and thorough. Cannot recommend this place enough.
