The food at Captains Boil is mouth-watering and comes with an authentic taste you won't find anywhere else. Their portions are generous, the service fast (even on busy days!), but most importantly for me: they have great customer care! I recommend this restaurant to any traveler looking for some good old fashioned seafood cuisine in their travels across Canada--two thumbs up all around!!
Captain's Boil is probably one of my favourite foods ever! This location has been mostly consistent in terms of flavour. I always get the captains boil sauce and its addicting! It is on the pricier side, but if you take it to-go and add your own seafood and sides at home, it's so worth it.Despite the other negative reviews, I found the service to be friendly and washrooms to be clean.I can't wait to eat here again.
If the goal of this establishment is to accelerate the accumulation of plastic in the oceans, then they’re doing an excellent job at that. Kind of ironic for a seafood restaurant to use SO MUCH plastic to serve their food. I mean, plastic spoons? Everything in thick plastic bags? What is your business model going to be once single plastics are banned? All that aside, the food is just terrible. We went on a Tuesday and got the sailor’s feast, and I’m pretty sure most of it was reheated in the microwave. The fried rice was definitely microwaved leftovers from at least 3 days prior. How do I know? Well for one thing it had cold spots and warm spots, which is a tell tale sign of something being microwaved as it wasn’t uniformly warm. The sauce for the shrimp and chicken that we ordered was very unevenly spread, like all the ingredients were thrown in the bag and just heated up, wasn’t mixed at all. And the “sauce” is basically just massive amounts of oil and a tiny bit of paprika and salt.Overall, I’m happy we did not get sick from it.I do not recommend this restaurant. Charging full price for reheated food doesn’t seem fair.
Really wanted the lobster but realized that it was Thursday so we sadly couldn't get the promo Mon-Wed deal. The food wasn't the best and there wasn't enough of the sauce for my seafood. The napkin box was really dirty with sauce all over it.. My wife told me she didn't feel comfortable using the washroom since both stalls has pee on the seats and there was soap stains all over the sink. The female server on the phone earlier this afternoon was unprofessional and rude when we asked about making reservations but still decided to come in anyways for dinner tonight. The server was not accommodating and he did not seem like he was in the mood to work? Maybe it was the holiday blues but it did not create a welcoming or pleasant experience. Overall not a great experience in terms of service, food and comfort for the high prices they charge.
Instagram @chopstixinthesix Follow Us!’We got their Pirate’s Feast w/ Captain’s Boil sauce. For the Pirate’s Feast, we had it upgraded to King Crab Leg, it came with 3lbs of seafood (we chose 2lbs Shrimps and 1lb Clams), Captain’s Seafood Fried Rice, Fries, 4 Sides and 2 Premium Sides. The Seafood was so fresh, and finger licking good… quite literally, I mean look at our fingers! For the sides, we chose Corn, Potatoes, Lotus Root & Broccoli, it was so perfect after soaking it all up in the delicious sauce. The fries and fried rice were both amazing, oh man, what a delicious feast!!
Great place to go. There is very few staff so orders take a little extra time but the staff are very attentive and take the effort to follow up on tables every so often. The food tastes just like all the other branches. Will go again.
Very friendly service, however, we found that some of the seafood in the bag was dry (ie lacked a lot of captains boil sauce) and to get extra sauce it would be an additional charge. Just an FYI.Check out our Instagram @eatwithjessandjohn for more local eats$32.99 // sailors feastThis feast comes with 1 pound of shrimp or muscles, seafood fried rice, and a huge platter of Cajun fries. One of the best value combos! Their captains boil sauce is used in the bags of seafood - the fried rice was a more milder version of that but still v good.$21.99 // crawfishDue to the nature of this crustacean, it’s not worth it because there is so little meat inside. Yes it does taste good but the meat is too little. We recommend the others seafood options unless you looove crawfish or we’re eating it wrong
Paid $130 for one crab leg, a dozen or so shrimp, one serving of broccoli, and rice. To be fair, the crab leg was a snow crab (the largest kind), but this was one of the most overpriced meals I've ever had to pay for. My boyfriend and I came in for dinner at a 7/10 hungry level, and left at a 5/10. He was telling me to eat all of it myself and that he could grab some fast food afterwards. Absolutely unacceptable for $130.Food presentation was horrible. We ate on top of a table that wobbled enough to stick out into the aisle, covered by a sheet of paper, using paper cups, Styrofoam takeout containers, and a diner style napkin dispenser. We were given paper bibs and plastic gloves, and our food came in bags that we had to reach into or dump onto the table. The bibs were made of stiff paper, so not only were they uncomfortable, they wouldn't stop falling off and they kept lifting up away from our shirts. I do understand that this restaurant serves a style of cuisine that is a bit more hands on, but for a place that dares to charge $100+ for two pounds of seafood, I found the dining experience to be unforgivably disappointing. There was no prep put into any of the food. The shrimp came fully shelled, with heads on. They were delivered to us in the bag they were cooked with, so everything was smothered in grease and boiling hot. Have you ever tried to peel burning hot oily shrimp while wearing slippery plastic gloves? When some of the seasoning sprayed into my eye, I had to first somehow remove my gloves, which is not easy when both your fingers are soaked in grease. My boyfriend had so many pants stains from seasoning dripping off the table onto him. He dropped his paper cup of water because he literally couldn't hold on to it. The broccoli pieces were longer than my fingers; I have never been served broccoli that large and uncut in any restaurant before.Service was pretty bad, too. We arrived at about 830pm on a Sunday, and there were two waiters, a man and a woman. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and black jeans (and not the professional kind of jeans), and she was wearing Adidas sweatpants. The man was our host and it could not have been more obvious how badly he did not want to be there. And although he signed his initials on the piece of paper we ate on top of, he stopped serving us midway through and switched with the woman. I'm not sure what the reason was given there were only two or three tables at the time. We were told about last call 15 minutes after receiving our food, yet they took in a new party 10 minutes after that and served them. Not that we had any desire to order anything else, but it didn't feel like honest service.I did not witness the men's washroom for myself, but of the two stalls in the women's washroom, one had pee in and on the toilet, and the other one was leaking (not overflowing, but it wouldn't stop draining once flushed). The sink was covered in a ridiculous amount of soap and water stains. Most restaurants have a sheet to track when it was last cleaned and by whom, but I did not see any such sheet at this establishment (I didn't look everywhere for it admittedly, but it wasn't posted anywhere easy to see). The only saving grace of our visit was that the food WAS good. Personally, I didn't think it was worth the price, and I absolutely did not leave the restaurant feeling full or satisfied, but I can't say it wasn't tasty. I also appreciated our female server's attempts to improve our experience, once she realized we were clearly not having a good time. But between the price, dining experience, service, and sanitation, I can confidently say that I would never return here and would never recommend it to anyone. This was a complete waste of money and time.
Thai was a great experience. We ordered the Shrimp special, which was 1lb (special being unlimited promotional deal). I ordered the lemon pepper with no spice and my partner ordered cajun and asked for It to be the spiciest that can be made. The shrimp were not small, they were meaty and the preparation was to our liking. We had soda, though they are not unlimited and sold in cans. They also gave us unlimited ice water. The Cajun fries were excellent and, pro-tip...dip the fries into your shrimp bag of sauce. I definitely appreciate that they provided gloves as the shrimp can get messy fast when you are peeling them. The one thing that was a surprise was that the gratuity was already tacked on to the bill, and not up to us to figure out. The gratuity was 18% which could be a bit high for some. All in all, we will be back and hope to have other fare from the menu. The clams, lobster and crab look particularly appetizing.
This is $18 plus tax Calamari?!?? I’ll never go back again and do not recommend anyone to go.
